Req# 27054 Aultman Health Foundation, CANTON, OH AULTMAN HOSPITAL Aultman Health Foundation Full Time, Varied Shifts, Variable EXTERNAL SIGN ON BONUS UP $10,000 FOR CERTIFIED TECHS AND FLOAT DIFFERENTIAL PAY AVAILABLE DEPARTMENT SUMMARY Under the supervision of the technical specialist & director, performs the following functions. Manages all assigned aspects of the department operations. Manages all personnel within their assigned department. Ensures quality patient care. Assumes additional duties as assigned. PURPOSE OF POSITION Performs duties in all areas of the laboratory departments including but not limited to all Aultman laboratory locations with a concentration in the Aultman Massillon Laboratory. Works with peers and leadership to achieve hospital and departmental goals. Introduces and demonstrates new procedures, programs, and equipment to departmental and other hospital staff as appropriate. Involved in the selection, training/orientation and evaluates performance of staff. Makes recommendations for personnel actions. Implements and evaluates the quality and critical aspects of service programs/modalities provided by the department including proficiency testing and quality controls and takes appropriate action to report and address identified issues. Monitors and maintains compliance with all regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and hospital policies. Maintains department and equipment and seeks to develop new program enhancements and strategies. Reviews and develops laboratory policies and procedures. Is responsible for the department's operational excellence and ensures that quality services are delivered in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and professional behavior standards. Collaborates with other departments to create systems and problem solve issues that impact departmental/organizational goals and patient care delivery. Actively participate in departmental and hospital committees and meetings as appropriate. Other responsibilities as assigned by the Technical Specialist, Lead, and/or Director. QUALIFICATIONS Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Science with certification as a Medical Lab Technician by an approved certifying agency. Minimum 3 years experience working in a clinical laboratory required. RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS Perform testing and quality control using approved laboratory procedures and instrumentation. Exercise professional judgment to recognize, prioritize, and facilitate varying test requests and workload in an efficient manner. Participate in quality improvement initiatives. Perform instrument/equipment maintenance according to department guidelines and manufacturer's specifications. Collaborate with Emergency Department Staff and Director as needed. SKILLS Demonstrated ability to multitask while working across multiple departments and locations with a focus on the Aultman Massillon Laboratory. Demonstrated success in meeting/exceeding performance expectations, with consistent delivery of results to the satisfaction of internal and external customers. Ability to consistently demonstrate integrity, high energy, initiative, self-confidence and a dedication to diversity and inclusion. Proficiency with personal computer uses necessary for quality monitoring and reporting.
