APTIM Mechanical Engineer -- Entry Level in Canton, Massachusetts

Job Summary:

APTIM is seeking entry-level engineers to join our team of engineering professionals serving our Government and Commercial programs.

Engineers will apply critical thinking skills to initial planning, procurement support, plan development, design, construction and commissioning phases of projects. APTIM expects our engineers to be creative problem solvers and actively look for the best way to support our varied Government and commercial clients. Engineers will often work on multiple projects simultaneously and perform other duties as required. This position will require prior knowledge of the engineering and construction industry. Understanding of basic corporate mechanisms such as scopes of work, construction safety protocols, and experience in a professional work environment. This position immediately offers opportunities to grow professionally while solving problems in the engineering and construction industry. Engineers typically serve the projects in both the field (domestic and international assignments) and the office, as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work activities include collection and interpretation of engineering data, development of project design basis, development of specifications, and performance of detailed engineering.

  • Ensures conformance to applicable engineering codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures.

  • Development of conceptual design, calculations, system studies and design drawings.

  • Other duties include collection and interpretation of engineering data, compiling data for project reports, collecting and compiling field data as required, assisting in proposal efforts as directed, documenting technical data for management review, providing other entry level duties as assigned, assisting with preparation of labor/material estimates and design packages for clients.

  • Is aware of costs and schedule related to own work.

  • Organizes own work to meet deadlines set by others.

  • Communicates information, asks questions and checks for understanding.

  • Contributes to a team environment

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or master's degree in mechanical engineering, 0 -- 5 years related experienc

  • Has basic knowledge of theories, practices and procedures in mechanical engineering.

  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and technical engineering software, some CADD experience (AutoCAD, REVIT and/or MicroStation) along with good verbal and writing skills.

  • Nuclear experience is a plus

  • Candidates must be willing to travel for infrequent field assignments

  • Must be a US Citizen and be able to pass a background check to gain access to government facilities

  • FE and EIT candidates preferred.

  • Ability to work independently and in a diverse team setting

  • Willingness to work across Engineering disciplines

  • Strong multitasking skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills
