JP9347 Joint Integrated Control System is a critical project which aims to modernise and expand Defence's Joint Data Networks.

The Project Manager is responsible for day-to-day coordination, management, planning, development and testing of the program’s schedule, key performance indicators and ensuring customer satisfaction is achieved.

The role will be located in either Macquarie Park, NSW or Canberra, ACT.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a work breakdown structure and project schedule for program capability deliveries, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of progress against the baseline plans and support management analysis. Includes ensuring regular status updates are provided by all stakeholders and incorporate status into the integrated schedule.

  • Day-to-day management of project, including the monitoring of cost and schedule performance requirements in accordance with the agreed scope

  • Manage project, including the development of project plans, establishment of program performance and financial tracking frameworks and the preparation of management review packs.

  • Ensure the delivery of assigned tasks within cost, schedule, and quality and performance specification.

  • Assess, identify and manage program risks, issues and opportunities in accordance with the company’s policies.

  • Develop and implement approaches, tools, templates and processes as well as identify and develop opportunities for improving project management techniques and procedures.

  • Develop and maintain working relationships with internal and external customers, subcontractors and suppliers.

  • Work in close collaboration with other team leads, senior managers and discipline/functional leads regarding overall resource availability and competency to deliver outcomes effectively and efficiently.

The person

  • Tertiary Qualification in Project Management or equivalent

  • Experience in complex program schedule implementation, including planning, scheduling program execution, reporting and control.

  • Demonstrated skills in financial cost control utilising earned value principles

  • Proven understanding of the defence environment - with a minimum of 5 years in Project Management on Defence/Defence industry projects

  • Experience in use of integrated scheduling software tools and earned value management systems such as Open Plan Professional; Microsoft Project Server and COBRA.

  • Experience in leading program teams in establishment of program plans.

  • Ability to develop enduring customer relationships with global customers and suppliers

  • Experienced in working closely with International Trade Compliance and understanding export rules and regulations

  • Proven experience in complex program management including stakeholder management, performance variations, subcontractor and contract management.

  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain Australian Government (Defence) Security Clearance up to NV -1 - eligibility can be found at http://www.defence.gov.au/agsva
