Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Responsibilities You will serve as a working leader over the wastewater collection system to include gravity lines, force mains, wastewater pumping stations, and associated appurtenances. You will assign and explain work requirements and operating instructions to maintenance crews and advise on established deadlines. You will assure safety and housekeeping rules are followed, machine capacities are not exceeded and proper safety equipment and tools are used. You will work from blueprints, building plans, utility drawings, and sketches to plan and lay out routing, placement, and slope for proper operation of the system and equipment. You will monitor flow and levels within the gravity system and lift station operation using telemetry and visual inspections. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ability to Supervise or Lead: knowledge of how wastewater lift station work, and how they fit into the collection system, and how flow comes in and out of a station, alarm system knowledge, level control systems, over flow and backup systems, pump troubleshooting , knowledge of state and federal regulations, regarding and reporting wastewater spills, ability to trouble shoot problems in the field, respond to emergency in the field and have repairs done. The ability to work in confined space, and use fall protection, and maintain a safe working environment at all times, basic knowledge of electrical systems, and underground utilities; Knowledge of portable pumps, and knowledge of Vactor Truck operations, knowledge of trenching and shoring for piping repairs done in the street, knowledge of lockout tagout safety, and ability to train new staff in field work and government safety training.
