Overview

Job Summary: Work alongside patients to identify effective treatment options for conditions related to medical limb loss, musculoskeletal disorders, nerve conditions, etc. Design and fabricate medical supportive devices and measure and fit patients for them.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive physical examinations to assess patient condition.

• Work with specialists to diagnose condition resulting in loss of mobility.

• Generate rehabilitation and treatment plan through collaboration with patient.

• Interface with healthcare providers like physicians, nurses and physical therapists.

• Design and fabricate orthotic devices based on physician specifications.

• Identify proper materials to be used in the fabrication of orthoses.

• Instruct patients on how to use, maintain and care for their orthotic devices.

• Perform routine checkups to ensure orthoses functionality and patient wellness.

• Install, adjust, repair or replace orthotic devices upon patient or physician request.

Qualifications

Education:

Required: Minimum: High School Diploma or GED

Preferred: Certification through the American Board for Certification in Orthotics,

Experience:

• Required: 1-2 years previous experience as an Orthotist

Special Conditions of Employment

• Drug test

• Initial and continuous exclusion and sanction/disciplinary monitoring

• Any and all additional eligibility requirements based on the specific position
