If you have experience with performing financial analysis such as scenario and sensitivity analysis, customer rate impacts, debt defeasance costs, and tax calculations, then this role is for YOU! Apply TODAY for immediate consideration!* _ Primary Role_ * Key member of a dedicated financial advisory team which provides strategic and financial guidance in support of American Water’s regulated water and wastewater acquisition growth. * Be a catalyst for achieving internal consensus on key business decisions. * Lead preparation of detailed financial models and participate in due diligence efforts to evaluate large mergers and acquisitions (M&A) to advance American Water’s growth objectives. * Effectively create and present analyses to executive management to guide strategic decision making. * Guide junior staff members and/or rotational staff. _ Key Accountabilities_ * Drive moderate to complex financial evaluations, utilizing a standardized model template, for projects requiring Executive and/or Board approval, under minimal supervision. * Perform financial analysis such as scenario and sensitivity analysis, customer rate impacts, debt defeasance costs, and tax calculations. * Create and present reports in support of analysis (graphs, tables, and PowerPoint presentations) to state leadership, executive management, and Investment Committee. * Independently plan, analyze, model, and present acquisition analysis and other projects with executives with minor support from senior staff members. * Collaborate with various levels of management and departments (both internal/external to finance) such as Business Development, Rates, Operations, Legal, etc. to develop and document modeling assumptions. * Review peer (divisional finance) and/or junior staff members’ work products and assist in highlighting key insights in analyses. * Drive ‘best practices’ and ‘continuous improvement mindset’ by assessing and measuring the on-going effectiveness and efficiency of Acquisitions team systems and tools. * Support regulatory filings and data requests related to acquisitions during acquisition and general rate case filings. * Special projects and ad hoc analysis as required. _ Knowledge/Skills_ * Detailed and demonstrated knowledge of: * Advance / expert level in MS Excel. * Attention to detail along with strong organizational and time management skills. * Valuation methodologies and accounting principles. * Critical thinking, problem solving, adaptability, and a strong work ethic. * Possess leadership skills yet are a collaborative team player. * Ability to quickly adapt to professional collaborative environments, manage ambiguity, take initiative, and achieve results. * Ability to analyze detail, see larger picture, and guide strategy. * Ability to identify the need for and drive the development of new financial analysis, models, improvements, and efficiencies. * Methodologies and practices of data collection and research. * Microsoft Office Suite programs (MS Word, PowerPoint). * Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills, written and verbal. * Ability to effectively communicate complex financial analysis to Executive Level audiences. * Economic principles relating to utility ratemaking preferred. _ Experience/Education_ * Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or closely related field required * Seven to nine years of pertinent financial experience required. * MBA or Masters in Accounting or Finance preferred. * CPA, CFA, or other technical license/designation preferred. * Regulated utility industry experience preferred.
