Posting Summary
Rutgers University - Camden seeks an application developer. Reporting to the Assistant Director of IT/Application Development, the Application Developer provides n-tier application development and maintenance support to Rutgers University Camden Information Technology (RUCIT). The position is primarily focused on: developing, correcting, enhancing and deploying systems designed to automate business processes using programming languages and platforms supported by RUCIT. The Application Developer analyzes business challenges, makes technical suggestions and designs complex systems under the direct and/or indirect supervision of the Assistant Director of IT. The Application Developer identifies efficiencies in program function used across systems and data sharing across units when appropriate. Applications developed include: automated processes, business-workflow specific solutions, student information, appointment maintenance and e-commerce applications, reports for all administrative and academic units of the Camden campus.

Work Arrangement
Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience with 3 or more years of programming experience with solid knowledge of current programming languages and methodologies and source control.

In addition to technical skill, the developer must be able to follow and enhance existing team processes, communicate effectively, provide regular status updates, collaborate with the team and all levels of university faculty, staff and administration
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with the following areas of experience:
* Coding HTML, JavaScript/jQuery and CSS
* Scripting with PHP, Python, and/or Perl
* Designing relational databases using MySQL and Oracle
* Supporting Drupal and Wordpress, including module/plugin development and multi-site configuration and management.
* Integrating JSON and XML based web services into advanced web projects using both RESTful and SOAP based APIsResponsibilities
* Design and develop responsive web applications.
* Work closely with faculty, staff and students to analyze site requirements and develop fully featured web applications.
* Develop project scope, deliverables and schedules for website projects.
* Collaborate with other designers and programmers to complete web application projects.
* Design, develop and maintain new modules and themes for Drupal and plugins for Wordpress.
* Maintain and secure current web properties by applying patches and updates, re-working older code and transitioning to new development frameworks as needed.
* Provide basic PC & Mac desktop support as needed.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
