Description: This is an apprenticeship position for Machinist General Sr.

Introductory level CNC operator position for setting up and operating a CNC machine for creating parts from various materials including metal and composites.

Perform a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive machining operations using automated equipment.

Use precise measuring instruments and equipment, perform mathematical calculations.

Work from diagrams and drawings following detailed planning, and use hand and/or power tools.

Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exact tolerances and dimensions.

Basic Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED equivalent.

After-hours Off-site learning may be required.

Excellent manual dexterity, accuracy, and attention to detail

Great verbal and written communication skills

Ability to use precision tools (e.g., calipers) to take accurate measurements.

Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals.

Outstanding mathematical skills and analytical abilities

Must have the ability to use hand tools (i.e., torque wrench, drills and inspection tools, screwdrivers, ratchet wrench and various other hand tools).

This position will be located at a facility that requires special access and requires the selected candidate to be a US citizen.

Desired Skills:

Motivated self-starter with a desire to further his/her skills in CNC machining taking additional training courses geared toward operating CNC mills/lathes.

Experience with operating automated equipment, understanding of mechanical assembly and process flow.

Strong teaming ability and effective communication skills.

Critical thinking and problem solving.

Familiar with Microsoft Office products (Outlook) is a plus.

Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders etc.)

Knowledge of GD&T, blueprint reading, SPC and basic knowledge of CNC programming.

Vocational school or apprenticeship preferred.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
