Nuclear Fuel Services Payroll Coordinator (15-month Contract with Benefits) in Cambridge, Ontario

We are recruiting for a Payroll Coordinator (15-month Contract with Benefits) for our facility in Cambridge, ON.

Work from home is optional up to 2 days per week after the initial training period has been completed.

The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for the accurate calculation and timely preparation of payrolls in a unionized, multi-provincial pay environment which includes a weekly payroll for 500 plus hourly paid employees. The Payroll Coordinator must ensure payments are properly approved and are in accordance with federal and provincial legislation, company policy and collective agreements.

Accountabilities:

Payroll Preparation (Unionized Employees)

  • Ensure all employee transaction forms for pay changes in the period have been received and are properly approved prior to submitting pay for processing.

  • Enter master file changes (e.g. banking information, employer rates and codes, employee deductions, garnishees and tax information).

  • Calculate final pay for terminating employees including vacation pay, banked overtime and severance pay.

  • Prepare wire transfer and proforma to ensure funding to outsource payroll provider and correct G/L account distribution of the payroll funding.

    Journal Entry Preparation

  • Load journal entry file received from payroll provider to SAP. Review accuracy of automated journal entry file and correct with supporting documentation any entries that require reallocations prior to loading to G/L.

  • Prepare detail for general accounting transfers to other entities regarding expatriate employees.

    Remittances

  • Prepare reports and proformas for payment of union dues, Boilermakers local, Health & Welfare payments.

    Knowledge & Experience:

  • Graduate of Certified Compliance Practitioner Certification (CPA) or Payroll Administrator Certification, or in the process of obtaining either of these.

  • Salary and hourly unionized payroll experience with a minimum of 1 to 3 years, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

  • Sound knowledge of government regulations including CRA and Employment Standards.

  • Experience with SAP, MS Excel and Word, and Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate.

  • Able to quickly learn and apply company policies and applicable union contracts.

    The base salary range for this position in [[Ontario]] at the start of employment is expected to be between $[[58,000]] and $[[74,000]] per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
