Job Description
SKILLS:
· Must have strong knowledge of SolidWorks, best practice modelling techniques.
· CSWP certificate and Programming in SolidWorks would be an asset
· Proficient in Excel
· JIRA experience would be an asset
· Must have excellent planning and organizing skills.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
CAD Standards:
· Purchased component validation, modeling and entry into the PLM library.
· Design solid models for parts and assemblies.
· Follow ATS guidelines for modeling and naming purchase components.
· Establish standards (modeling, syntax, etc.) for local and global parts.
· Be proficient in use of design tables in SolidWorks to setup configurations, mates, custom properties, dimensions, feature states.
· Establish process for requesting new library parts. Prioritize designer requests for purchase part models
· Identify areas of improvement for the role and process.
· Create and maintain an organizational structure for purchase part libraries in PLM.
· Modify existing models such that they meet ATS modeling requirements.
· Manage obsolescence of purchase parts.
· Establishing, implementing and controlling standards and best practices with respect to modelling in SolidWorks for use in PLMWorx.
· Defining, documenting and controlling design standards created in the PLM library.
· Manage the ADSS library components and families of components.
· Transfer and cleanup of DDM legacy design into PLMWorx.
· Manage internal/ external resources who may be supporting this function.
· Liaise with vendors for technical information and specifications.
Documentation Control:
· Review and interpret customer drawing specifications
· Communicate customer drawing specifications to the Mechanical and Controls designers (eg. Titleblocks, text size, layering conventions, no draw zones, etc..)
· Prioritize, schedule and complete full customer drawing conversions to ATS or customer format for Mechanical Engineering drawing packages as per ISO procedures and work instructions.
· Perform minor drawing additions/revisions as related to drawing conversions
· Liaise with designers to solve major drawing errors/additions/revisions.
· Maintain electronic data filing systems, ensuring data is organized and properly stored and extraneous files have been removed
· Review the quality of drawings and ensure they are prepared to ATS and/or customer standards.
Other duties:
· All ad-hoc projects such as
· Outsourcing (Prepare detailing packages for external design and upload to Upchain PLM)
· Simulations (Complete technical simulations to assess and confirm robotic concepts, summarizing and communicating results to engineering teams)
· Engineering Helpdesk (first line to support all external questions for engineering and direct as needed, respond to tickets in a timely manner)
Additional Information
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
· A post-secondary diploma in mechanical engineering would be an asset. Practical CAD experience will be considered in place of a post-secondary school diploma.
Experience:
· A minimum of 1 year of SolidWorks CAD experience including proficiency in applying GD&T
