Regal Rexnord Assembly Technician in CAMBRIDGE, Maryland

Position Summary:

The ModSort Assembler assembles and tests modular sortation systems according to detailed specifications and blueprints. This role involves working with mechanical components, electrical systems, and software interfaces to ensure that the ModSort systems are built to high standards of quality and performance. The assembler works closely with engineering and quality control teams to ensure the final product meets all operational requirements.

Shift: Monday - Thursday | 5:00 am - 3:30 pm

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble mechanical and electrical components of the ModSort systems according to detailed work instructions, blueprints, and schematics.

  • Use wire termination and component layout tools including but not limited to strippers, wire cutters, wire crimpers, screwdrivers, tee square, machinist square, tape measure, wrenches, and pliers.

  • Assembling control panel for ModSort units according to assembly books, custom specs and quality standards

  • Position, bolt, screw, clip, adjust or fasten parts and components together using hand, power tools, and equipment

  • Conduct testing of assembled systems to verify functionality and accuracy. Perform any necessary adjustments or calibrations to meet specifications.

  • Quality Control: Inspect components and completed assemblies for defects or issues, ensuring that all products meet quality standards before they are delivered.

  • Identify and resolve any issues during the assembly process, including mechanical, electrical, or software-related problems.

  • Maintain accurate records of the assembly process, including parts used, modifications made, and any issues encountered.

  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and report any maintenance or repair needs to the supervisor.

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations during the assembly process, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and following lockout/tagout procedures.

  • Work closely with engineers, technicians, and quality control personnel to ensure that assemblies meet design specifications and operational requirements.

  • Following 5S and LEAN manufacturing Standards

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in a related field (e.g., Mechanical Assembly, Electrical Technology) preferred.

  • Experience with sortation systems or automation equipment is a plus.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.

  • Ability to perform precise assembly work with attention to detail, ensuring that all components are correctly installed and functioning.

  • Capable of identifying and resolving issues that arise during the assembly process.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision

  • Must be flexible, highly motivated, organized and show attention to details

  • Excellent work ethic

  • Hand-eye coordination

  • Familiarity with basic tools

  • Completely and efficiently handle any assigned job with minimal supervision

  • Able to recommend, advise, and execute improvements to the production process (techniques, tools, panel layout, materials, etc.)

  • Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in various environmental conditions (e.g., hot, cold, noisy).

  • Occasional overtime

  • While performing the duties of this job, the assembler requires repetitive motions, lifting, squatting, kneeling, bending, walking, torquing, pulling, carrying, pulling, crouching, backward positions, and standin for extended periods.

  • Assembly cell within a manufacturing plant with potential exposure to loud noises, machinery, and moving equipment.
