Additional Information:This is a one-year term position from the date of hire, with the possibility of extension, contingent upon work performance and continued funding to support the position.

The MEDscience x MOONSHOT Teacher & Program Coordinator role is a position for an individual who is eager to teach in our MEDscience x MOONSHOT programs, learn our MEDscience pedagogy and apply it to MOONSHOT curriculum to build out highly engaging programming, and help strategically grow this arm of MEDscience.
As a teacher, they must be confident and comfortable teaching students' physics and the basics of coding in Python. They should be comfortable with supporting students through team projects centered around building robots with LEGO, helping students build better teamwork and communication skills, and learning how to build a business proposal. Occasionally, this teacher will co-teach in our medical simulation lab. They will take on the roles of instructor, attending physician, patient, and/or counselor to students as they diagnose patients (training provided). The teacher must be able to create a welcoming space for students with varying educational needs and should be passionate about making the life sciences accessible to all.
As a coordinator, they will be responsible for coordinating details for all HMS MEDscience x MOONSHOT school and industry partners, building marketing materials, managing seasonal staff, and setting up equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead Teacher:
Teach in a co-teaching team delivering a semester-long curriculum to participating local high schools each semester, week-long summer programs, and mini-modules.
Work within teaching team to deliver interactive lectures, simulation cases, and debriefs, utilizing HMS MEDscience innovative and unique pedagogy.
Deliver age level-appropriate engineering/physics activities in the question-based, student-centered MEDscience pedagogy.
Participate in teacher training to develop science content, inquiry-based teaching style, and classroom management skills. Responsible for facilitating career speakers, leading classes in our medical simulation lab, and any prep/breakdown involved.
Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of students. Establish and enforce rules of behavior for students in the classroom.
Program Coordination:
Assist in the development and implementation of a marketing and outreach plan to grow MOONSHOT.
Work closely with program leadership to cultivate new partnerships in the robotics/engineering/medtech ecosystems, including private sector companies, industry trade groups, and educational institutions.
Coordinate the MOONSHOT schedule, integrating site tours, industry leader participation, and robot demonstrations into our programming.
Coordinate MOONSHOT classes with partnering classroom teachers: discuss logistics, individualize program curriculum calendar, provide program materials, monitor completion of required paperwork & surveys.
Manage and develop content for our social media platforms.
Provide support and training as needed to partnering high school teachers, interns, and volunteers.
Oversee seasonal staff: design projects, coordinate schedule, manage performance.
Program Operations:
- Manage equipment: coordinate with Moonshot LLC on equipment needs in preparation for sessions, breakdown of robots post-programming.

Work Format:On-Site Work Format Details:This position is based primarily on-campus, in Massachusetts. This may include in-person during emergency situations (if applicable).
