Position Summary:
The Preclinical Discovery team at Editas is focused on developing novel strategies for our in vivo gene editing program. We're looking to add a talented and motivated Scientist to help develop delivery strategies for gene editing machinery into target cells in vivo. This individual will help the development of novel cellular targeting strategies and implement these technologies to treat therapeutic indications with significant unmet medical needs. In addition, they will provide molecular biology and cellular assay development support to Editas’ in vitro and in vivo pre-clinical studies. With a strong foundation in cellular and in vivo biology, this person will work within cross-functional teams in development and commercialization of Editas' in vivo gene editing drug products.
Key responsibilities:
Development and optimization of molecular assays for evaluating editing outcomes of CRISPR-based therapeutics in an in vivo context.
Work with primary cells and cell lines.
Develop and perform in vitro cell-based assays independently and support the pharmacology of CRISPR-based therapeutics.
Design and execute in vivo studies for evaluation of LNP targeting and biodistribution.
Maintain an electronic lab notebook in a timely fashion.
Analyze and present data within the organization.
Collaborate with internal teams to develop assays for robust detection of LNP cargo, LNP dynamics, and LNP targeting.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
PhD in physiology, stem cell biology, or related area with hands-on research experience in an academic and/or pharmaceutical/biotech environment.
Skilled in molecular assays including PCR and flow cytometry.
Demonstrated knowledge in assay development and optimization.
Cell culture experience and experience with cell-based assays.
Animal handling experience is a must.
Ability to form hypotheses, think critically, extract conclusions from datasets to inform future studies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Hematopoietic stem cell culture experience is a plus.
Self-motivated, result-driven with excellent attention to details and ability to independently execute protocols to drive assignments to completion.
Team oriented and resilient in a fast-paced and dynamic team environment.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Well-organized and excellent at multi-tasking.
