Position Description:Who We Are:

The Office of the Vice Provost for Advances in Learning (VPAL) seeks to shape the future of education by discovering new ways to build the competence, curiosity, and confidence of learners around the world. We create engaging and scalable learning experiences, cultivate inspiring ideas, and connect a global community of learners—while developing tools, technologies, platforms, and policies to reduce friction throughout the learning lifecycle.

We are seeking a Project Manager who is responsible for tracking and advancing the various VPAL workstreams related to the development of Harvard’s learning experience platform, including cultivating high-impact partnerships with organizations within Harvard and beyond.

How You’ll Contribute

The learning experiences platform (“LXP”) is an ambitious new project at Harvard that seeks to deliver transformational learning experiences at scale across a diverse range of learning modalities. The LXP represents one of the largest IT investments by Harvard in recent years and is a critical piece of its vision for the future of teaching and learning. Reporting to the Director of Strategic Technology, the Project Manager will play the critical role of enabling and catalyzing the success of the LXP through 1) project managing LXP workstreams within VPAL across the marketing, program services, finance, and content development units; and 2) guiding partners through the LXP adoption process.

The primary areas of responsibility for the Project Manager will be:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive project plans and timelines for VPAL LXP initiatives.

  • Collaborate with various VPAL teams to define and deliver on scope, goals, and deliverables for various LXP projects.

  • Develop and maintain communications materials related to the LXP outreach, adoption, and change management, including presentation decks, written memorandums, and websites.

  • Manage the LXP programmatic roadmap, tracking what programs are running and planned for on the LXP.

  • Serve as a key point of contact for LXP partners, responsible for understanding and communicating partner needs back to VPAL and facilitating the optimal working relationship with partners to reach their LXP goals. Enabling this level of communication will require the ability to both understand business and operational needs, as well as to communicate and understand the potential impact of those needs at a high technical level.

  • Guide partners through the process of LXP adoption, enabling partners to engage directly in LXP use or facilitating the correct hand-off to VPAL stakeholders when the partner is working with VPAL to put new programs on the LXP.

  • Engage with Harvard-wide stakeholders and subject matter experts regarding partner needs to ensure governance, product, and other strategic decisions are surfaced, communicated, and put through the appropriate processes.

  • Assist in preparing project status updates at various levels both within VPAL and to partners and LXP governance bodies as needed.

  • Absorb and leverage project-related technology to ensure effective project management and collaboration.

  • Apply Harvard University’s IT technical standards and best practices.

  • Abide by and follow the Harvard University IT Code of Conduct.
