Shape the future of our managed Kubernetes products

With your Kubernetes expertise, you can design and amplify the scale and performance of Linode's Kubernetes Engine (LKE) product to meet customer demands. You will be responsible for evolving the scale, performance, security, and capabilities of our managed Kubernetes platform to provide a simple and seamless experience developers have come to expect from Linode.

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating on the roadmap for critical enterprise features expected from a public managed Kubernetes platform

  • Creating and integrating cloud-native technologies and architectural approaches

  • Understanding industry differentiators, exercise design thinking, analyze systems and develop solutions from initial idea to release

  • Enabling a simple and seamless way for our customers to deploy and operate their Kubernetes clusters

  • Collaborating with engineering teams in an Agile environment to sustain a product portfolio

  • Working in an environment that fosters innovative solutions, rapid development cycles, and open communication

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have 12 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field

  • Have deep experience building Kubernetes Platform Clusters with scale and Cloud Native technologies

  • Have advanced knowledge of Kubernetes concepts such as Operator creation, Cluster API, and Container Network Interfaces

  • Have experience with Container Runtimes (e.g. docker, containerd, etc)

  • Demonstrate significant experience with Linux, Go, Python

  • Be familiar with software development practices like Agile and product life cycles through build, test, deploy, and iterative environments

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary for this position ranges from $148,200 - $307,800/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
