  • Minimum of three years of related experience in a technical role and/or as an admin user of Canvas LMS, supporting online courses and programs.

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in related field preferred (e.g., educational technology, information technology, learning technologies, instructional technology, computer science, etc.).

  • Self-directed technical professional who is comfortable both collaborating with colleagues and working independently to solve problems quickly, accurately, and professionally.

  • Experience working in a college/university setting in roles related to educational technology.

  • Experience supporting technical dimensions of online courses and programs.

  • Previous experience providing admin-level support for Zoom and Panopto.

  • Able to become proficient supporting other technologies used by PLC, such as:

  • Course tools (e.g., Cidilabs Design PLUS, Atomic Assessments, 3Play, Copyleaks, Paradigm)

  • Project and operations management tools (e.g., Teams, OneDrive, Office, Slack, Google Drive, Confluence, OneNote)

  • Other tools (e.g., AirTable, Salesforce)

  • Familiarity / experience with responding to user support through a ticketing system (Salesforce).

  • Possess understanding of and appreciation for multiple dimensions (e.g., IT security, FERPA, data dependencies, user experience, accessibility) that must be considered when evaluating potential technical solutions.

  • Experience researching, evaluating, and testing new technologies.

This is a hybrid position based on our campus in Cambridge, MA. Salary Range: $76,400 - $130,000

Note: Starting salaries typically fall in the lower half of the salary range; however, they are ultimately determined by the scope of the position, the candidate's relevant experience, and internal equity.

Position Description:

Harvard Kennedy School is looking for a creative, solutions-oriented team player to fill the role of Online Learning Technologist. The successful candidate will be part of a strategic team in the Academic Deans’ Office to support HKS’s flagship online program (the Public Leadership Credential), provide back-up educational technology support for residential degree courses and executive education programs, and potentially contribute to other online learning experiences. This position is a fully benefits-eligible term appointment for one year from the date of hire with strong probability of renewal.

  • Support technologies for an online program serving thousands of global learners. Primary responsibilities include course set-up, QA, troubleshooting, and tier 2 support.

  • Collaborate with delivery team, learning designers, and others to optimize course experience and program efficiency.

  • Communicate and coordinate with other technologists at HKS and Harvard and with contractors and vendors.

  • Contribute to design and implementation of policies and processes with technical implications.

    Other responsibilities as assigned.
