Lifeguard - Harvard Recreation (Cambridge, MA)

part-time, 5-20 hrs/wk

Harvard Recreation , managed by HealthFitness is looking for part-time Lifeguards to join the aquatics team on-campus in Cambridge, MA. In this position, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of patrons using Harvard University’s Aquatics facilities, including the Malkin Athletic Center and Blodgett Pool. You'll work with a team, assist with maintenance projects, perform customer service, and help to create a safe and healthy environment while on duty. Flexible schedule 5-20 hour per week.

Harvard's Aquatics team will be holding Lifeguard Certification Courses (https://recreation.gocrimson.com/sports/2021/7/21/certification-courses.aspx) on-site for individuals who want to become a Lifeguard.

What you'll be doing:

• Maintain constant and active surveillance of pool users and visitors, with emphasis on the prevention of accidents and injuries.

• Help to maintain order in the pool and enforce all facility rules and policies.

• Act immediately and appropriately to secure the safety of pool users and visitors in the event of an accident, injury or other emergency.

• Give aid to those in distress and administer CPR and/or first aid as needed.

• Other duties as needed/assigned.

What you'll need:

• Must be at least 16 years old.

• Lifeguard certification from ARC or willingness to obtain Lifeguard/CPR/AED/First Aid certification from American Red Cross.

• 1 year experience preferred.

• Meet Harvard Fitness and Skill standards.

• Attend lifeguard orientation session.

• Be dependable, alert and able to interact with people of all ages in a positive manner.

• Ability to navigate electronic onboarding and timecard systems required.
