    Job Description

FISCAL OFFICER, Chemistry, to provide complex post-award research administration for faculty in the Department of Chemistry; serve as back up for pre-award; monitor the financial performance of active grants, contracts, subawards, discretionary funds, and billing agreements to ensure compliance with MIT and sponsor policies through the life of the award; review and approve subaward and billing agreement invoices; provide monthly financial analysis and projection to Principal Investigators (PI) to verify the proper distribution of resources and use of funds; review Financial Review and Control compliance; monitor past-due travel expenses, procurement card sweeps and violations; work closely with financial assistants and advise on complex approvals matters; advises and educates PIs, faculty, researchers, and staff on all aspects of sponsored research administration; and interprets MIT and federal policies such as the Uniform Guidance and the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards, Office of Management and Budget circulars, and sponsored guidelines.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; a minimum of three years of experience with federal grants and contracts and financial administration; proficiency with Microsoft Office; robust customer service orientation; excellent organizational and communication skills; attention to detail; and ability to work independently and in a challenging environment with people at all levels. PREFERRED: knowledge of enterprise financial systems, grants management tools, and multidimensional databases; and experience in MIT research administration or at a nonprofit. Job #24438-8 9/20/2024
