Job overview

With the Sanofi goal of becoming the premier Immunoscience company and having a predominance of biological and immunomodulatory modalities in its portfolio, there is increasing need to address safety issues related to the immune system. To address these needs, Sanofi is seeking an experienced Immunotoxicologist to work collaboratively with our Research and Development teams to successfully advance these types of therapeutics to registration. The incumbent will have strong scientific and regulatory knowledge in the field of Immunotoxicology and be accountable for devising and overseeing plans to address immune-related safety issues at all stages of development. Participation in external Immunotoxicology consortia and representing Sanofi at relevant scientific venues is also a component of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a point-of-contact in Preclinical Safety for Immunotoxicology questions and immune-related safety issues.

  • Devise and support development of strategies to manage safety risks for immunomodulatory therapeutics in collaboration with Sanofi subject matter experts and Preclinical Safety project team members.

  • Design mechanistic experiments to address immune-related safety issues. Author reports to support inclusion of results in white papers or regulatory submissions as needed.

  • Drive development of assays and tools necessary for assessing impact on immune function for both screening compounds for safety liabilities and determining mechanisms of toxicity. Ensure scientific rigor, including designing appropriate validation plans and testing strategies.

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to early career Immunotoxicologists with respect to the regulatory environment and support their career growth and development in this field.

  • Review and/or author Immunotoxicology sections of regulatory submission documents and provide subject matter expertise for addressing regulatory queries and concerns.

  • Participate in external immunotoxicology consortia and symposia to keep current with industry trends and regulatory evolution in the Immunotoxicology field. Represent Sanofi interests, maintaining high ethical and scientific standards.

  • Author external presentations and manuscripts to contribute to scientific advancement of the Immunotoxicology field.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • PhD in Immunology or equivalent scientific discipline required, with a minimum of 15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry working in the field of Immunotoxicology.

  • A high level of knowledge and expertise in Immunology and immunological assays is required.

  • Knowledge of regulatory safety requirements in the field of pharmaceutical drug development is also necessary.

  • Experience working with various biological modalities is a plus. Established record of scientific contribution in peer-reviewed journals and scientific symposiums.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Terms of employment

Occasional domestic and international travel to Sanofi Research and Development sites and scientific meetings. Availability to start in 4Q2024.

Location information

The position is based in Cambridge, MA.

Ability to work onsite 2-3 days per week per Hybrid Work policy
