We are looking for an exceptional business technologist to bring outside-in perspective to customer and internal interactions; in previous roles, you will have had direct responsibility and accountability for delivering, not just selling or consulting, that has given you this perspective. Your first hand experiences in delivering technical solutions, systems and strategies, are foundational in how you will support, champion and challenge customers to help them achieve their objectives.

As a global thought-leader and technical expert, you will blend advice, delivery experience, enablement and evangelisation in technology trends and trajectory to shape customer technical strategy and our messaging and roadmap.

You will play a key role in narrating strategic value for our customers and contribute to durable growth in revenue for Splunk. You will demonstrate the capability to excel in a fast-paced environment.

This role will be uniquely responsible for the curation of Splunk’s executive briefing content for briefings hosted at Cisco’s Customer Experience Center (CXC). In doing so, you’ll work closely with other Field CTOs, marketing, and product teams to ensure the best of Splunk’s capabilities and narratives are positioned.

This role reports to the Global Technical Sales Strategy & Programs Organization, working alongside seasoned technologists and Go-to-market strategists to shape Splunk positioning to customer executive audiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Use your experience of running large or complex teams, technology and digital transformations, and/or technical organizational change to help our customers to achieve their high priority objectives

  • Use your practical experience with various methodologies (i.e. agile business systems, system thinking, design thinking etc) and technical leadership expertise to help customers through the mechanism of change

  • Drive customer success through a ‘peer-to-peer’ understanding of the customer’s strategy, objectives and broader technology, data and analytics needs, and through expanding successful data and analytics capabilities.

  • Champion and translate customer needs, working cross-functionally with support, product management, engineering, and other organizations to ensure alignment, provide feedback, and resolve critical customer situations

  • Maintain and project a credible and trusted reputation with worldwide teams

  • Engage and influence a varied audience - from executive level to leaders in product and engineering teams to build meaningful relationships to drive customer success and business outcomes

  • Motivate and lead virtual teams strategically and tactically to meet leadership objectives

  • Curate and direct narrative design for Executive Briefing programs and CXC-specific content in partnership with cross-functional teams and CXC marketing engineers

  • Host executive engagements and briefing requests for customer executives at the Customer Experience Center (CXC)

Requirements :

  • Strong executive presence and communication skills. Ability to foster relationships with key technical leadership personas

  • Demonstrate understanding, based on experience, of the choices, benefits and pitfalls when implementing business impacting data analytics, security and/or observability systems

  • Able to work independently or in small expert teams with autonomy of decisions making, but in partnership with other teams and corporate functions

  • Understanding and appreciate the technical, people and process aspects of organization change and solution implementation

  • Willingness to learn and desire to share learned wisdom with others, sharing and improving knowledge to improve the overall team’s ability to operate and influence

  • Readiness to enable and coach others with your domain, technical and leadership knowledge

  • Comfort and desire to present to wide audiences (on stage, podcasts, webinars, etc.) and produce thought leadership

  • Based in the Bay Area, willing and able to work on-site at Cisco Headquarters in Santana Row, San Jose on a daily basis.

  • Travel 25% for major customer-facing events, including Cisco Live and Splunk .conf

Prior Experience(s)

  • Technical leadership experience with ownership of P&L and/or major investment budget

  • 5+ years of experience building and/or leading products or operations teams solving technical challenges at scale

  • Expert / leader in one or more of the fields of Cyber Security, IT Operations, DevOps, Observability

  • Leadership experience in activating development, technology or operational techniques, models and frameworks

  • Influenced policy, regulatory or compliance within an organization, sector or government

  • Developed and implemented technical strategy, delivery systems and/or policy frameworks

Note:

Base Pay Range

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area

Base Pay Range: $212,400.00 - 292,050.00 per year

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts

Base Pay Range: $191,160.00 - 262,845.00 per year

All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.

Base Pay Range: $172,000.00 - 236,500.00 per year

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
