PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Specialist Real Estate undertakes complex tasks associated with the region’s landholdings, which includes responsibilities such as negotiating and coordinating fixed fee and revenue agreements. Also performing shared administrative tasks for the team.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Facilitates the third-party use of non-surplus, underutilized properties, engaging with multiple internal stakeholders to verify surplus status and ensure proposed use does not negatively impact railroad operations
Negotiates real estate agreements to ensure highest returns while minimizing liability to the company, including agreements governing access and temporary use
Assists real property aspects of CPKC projects by providing subject matter expertise on acquisitions, development, and disposition of real property interests
Research historical agreements, property ownership, and title status for parcels utilizing a variety of historical and modern resources
Administrative tasks related to real estate agreements, including maintaining document management processes and managing inflow of inquiries for the region
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum 3 years of experience in Railroad Real Estate or Corporate Real Estate
Post-secondary education in business, finance, or property management considered an asset.
Experience in complex Railroad transactions considered a strong asset
Communicates with both internal and external stakeholders, able to convey and negotiate certain terms of legal agreements up to a limited impact
Must be able to effectively read, interpret and comprehend legal documents with an emphasis on land.
