Typically reporting to the Project Manager with a dotted line to the Operations Manager, the Field Operations Supervisor is responsible to manage and oversee all field construction among various trades on projects or across a portfolio of work (with a combined valued ranging from $10M - $30M+). This includes planning, organizing, direction and controlling various aspects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Manage and provide leadership for health, safety, environment, and quality programs and policies
Assist Project Managers in the planning of assigned projects
Executes plan and evaluates schedules and site personnel to ensure project objectives are met
Provides leadership to Forepersons and prioritizes work accordingly
Oversees site safety and quality control personnel
Hire and supervise the activities of subcontractors and subordinate staff
Build and maintain customer and supplier/vendor relationships
Monitor job costing, reporting, forecasting, and productivity
Oversee field administration: timesheets, project reports, and material purchases
Review work/contracts/Work in Progress for areas of risk and correct deficiencies
Read and interpret reports, such as job cost, labour, projection sheets and Purchase Order entries
Acts as brand ambassador for Black & McDonald

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Trade Qualification and/or have a Technical Diploma or Engineering Degree background to complement 10+ years field experience
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
10+ years of field experience in utilities construction, including streetlight & traffic, including Superintendent experience
Road overhead sign experience
Ground disturbance, cable & conduit trenching, excavation & backfilling experience
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Ability to set standards for success; empowers field workers to do their best
Advanced site safety supervision; ensures every project is executed with the highest regard for safety standards, fostering a culture of wellbeing and security
Ability to read drawings and project/structural design interpretation
Strong understanding of building materials and systems
Established track record in project planning and scheduling, contract management and risk management
Experience in navigating disputes and negotiating resolutions
Clean Class 5 AB Drivers' License and Abstract is required
