NORTHWESTERN ENERGY Planning Engineer in BUTTE, Montana
QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
- Bachelor of Science Engineering degree required, Electrical Engineering preferred
- Ability to demonstrate and maintain a good safety record
- Basic understanding of electric system and transmission system fundamentals
- Professional Engineer's Licensure or ability to obtain licensure
- Excellent computer skills and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written
- Valid drivers license and satisfactory driving record
- Ability to travel to jobsites, off-site meetings, and trainings (up to 5% travel per year) including overnight stays when necessary
- Ability to pass a background check
- Computer programming skills preferred
- Knowledge and experience with power system modeling software preferred (such as PSS/E)
DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Use sound analytical skills to model, perform transmission studies, propose solutions to problems, and plan the transmission system for Montana and South Dakota
- Develop base cases and conduct transmission system studies, using power flow and stability simulation software
- Maintain compliance with all related reliability standards including industry and regulatory
- Prepare reports and present results to management and/or internal and external customers
- Make recommendations to management on system improvements to mitigate identified problems
- Provide engineering support for operation activities Participate in regional transmission groups (such as WECC and SPP)
- Adhere to company safety standards and the Code of Business Conduct & Ethics
- Ensure self and others actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy's values, mission, and strategic business objectives
Full-time position.
$61,400 - $132,100 annually, depending on experience.
