DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position is a six-month training opportunity aimed at obtaining the necessary licensure for the Transportation Equipment Operator A classification. You will gain certification on a specified number of equipment relevant to the assigned work site while familiarizing themselves with departmental work regulations, safety protocols, and local reporting procedures.
The role involves operating equipment for highway construction and maintenance, including snow removal activities using plow attachments on roadways and bridges during winter months. You will operate loaders and other machinery, achieving certification on at least two additional pieces of construction and maintenance equipment during the probationary period, culminating in a minimum of six certifications. In addition, your duties will consist of performing various manual labor tasks within a highway or bridge maintenance crew, such as flagging and traffic control.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment. Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Dual shifts, overtime, and travel may be required. Work hours subject to seasonal change. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. QUALIFICATIONS Special Requirements: Must possess a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent. Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver Learner's Permit on the first day of work. Must possess a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations on the first day of work.
Conditions of Employment: All positions require operation of vehicles or equipment with a manual transmission. This position is subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.
