About Our Team:

The Wheeled Products Engineering (WPE) Light Fabrications team supports Large Mining Trucks, Large Wheel Loaders, Off-Highway Trucks, Wheel Tractor Scrapers, Articulated Trucks and Hard Rock Vehicles. Engineers on our team gain broad exposure to design, analysis, test, manufacturing and supplier collaboration while working on new product designs, as well as resolve issues on current models. Each team member plays an important role in developing and continuously improving the features, quality and cost across the product groups we support.

Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities:

This is an Associate design Engineering (Graduate) position with the Wheeled Product Engineering (WPE) Light Fabrications team that supports Hard Rock Vehicles (HRV) product. The HRV product line consists of both underground mining loaders and trucks. Both new product design and design improvements to current products are in scope for all the major light fabrications subsystems (e.g. access systems, hoods, fenders, platforms, fuel tanks, guards, and enclosures). The type of component-level design in scope includes complex fabricated steel structures/weldments, bolted assemblies and non-metallic components. The engineering disciplines applicable include machine design, strength of materials, structural fatigue, advanced bolted joint design, and noise/vibration/harshness (NVH). Will be working with local and Global team members with a great opportunity to learn and develop.

  • Creating new designs and resolves issues regarding the manufacturing or building sequences. Ensuring design acceptance and manufacturing readiness.

  • Participating in the adoption of new technologies and processes (automation, robotics, computer aided manufacturing software, etc.) to achieve greater efficiency, cost reduction and quality improvement.

  • Planning and improving engineering procedures and operations to make the product or process more reliable, efficient and cost-effective.

  • Collaborating with all functional areas, (marketing, purchasing, manufacturing) to provide a design

  • Proficiency with solid modeling software (Creo preferred).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science or Materials Science curriculum.

  • Have had an internship at engineering firm is desirable.

  • Information Capture - Knowledge of the methods, channels and processes to obtain needed information;

  • Standard Operating Procedures - Knowledge of established standard operating procedures (SOP)

  • Analytical Thinking - Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis

  • Effective Communications - Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques

  • Design for Manufacturability - Knowledge of design for manufacturability guidelines, methodologies

  • Engineering – Knowledge of processes, techniques and methods of engineering in a manufacturing environment

  • Knowledge of Product Testing - Knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques and tools

  • Troubleshooting Technical Problems - Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches
