Job Description
AECOM is seeking a well-rounded Systems Engineering and Assurance Specialist to join our Transit & Rail Systems Team in Vancouver to work with multidisciplinary teams delivering an existing portfolio of projects.
Responsibilities include:
Lead all Systems Engineering & Assurance aspects of the project with significant understanding of but not limited to:
Requirements Management
V&V
Systems Integration and Interface Management
Configuration Management
Safety & Systems Assurance (RAM)
EMI/EMC
Develops, implement, leads and manage systems engineering processes and practices to effectively control the full verification and validation lifecycle of the project including with all other disciplines such as Civil, M&E, Architecture, Rail Systems etc.
Significant experience in developing and implementing System Engineering and Assurance plans and processes as well as ensuring that project teams operate in accordance with those plans and processes, such as but not limited to Systems Engineering Management Plans, Requirements Management Plans, Verification and Validation Plans, Safety Management Plan etc.
Prior experience working with designers, suppliers, independent safety assessors, and/or auditors on tasks associated with requirements management, V&V, and evidence-based processes.
Significant experience working on Railway Projects and have a thorough understanding of Railway Systems and their integration.
Experience in dealing with subcontractors and clients
Able to manage complex projects and takes accountability for their scope of work.
Produces and/or reviews scope of works and estimations for rail systems activities.
Produces project reports and can implement corrective actions when needed.
Able to work with multidisciplinary teams and to working remotely with design teams.
Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field. Work at this level usually requires extensive progressive experience.
Is able to oversee and manage a Systems Engineering and Assurance engineers.
Is able to manage work in a collaborative environment among many stakeholders and third parties.
Communicates in an effective way and for diverse audiences
Fosters a safety culture and is seen as a safety role model.
Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
Preparation of bids, proposals, or tenders, and develop and manage budgets and planning for activities and projects.
Able to elucidate the discipline of Systems Engineering and Assurance and its techniques and processes
Develop and maintain liaison with the wider Systems Engineering and Systems Assurance network
Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to Systems Engineering and Assurance.
Reporting to senior level and works under minimal supervision. Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
Reporting to the project technical manager for project specific System Engineering and Assurance activities
Qualifications
*Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline + 6 years of experience in Systems Engineering and Assurance in Rail Systems., OR Technical Diploma + 8 years of experience in Systems Engineering, OR Highschool + 10 years of relevant experience in Systems Engineering and Assurance
PEng or eligible
6+ years’ experience with projects and their design lifecycles - in rail & transit
Driving License
*Preferred Qualifications:
15+ years’ experience is ideal in Systems Engineering and Assurance
Used to implement and work under the principles of following standards: IEEE 1220, IEEE 24748, ISO 15288 + 24748 + 29148: Systems Engineering Life Cycle processes & Requirements management; NFPA 130; EN50126 or IEC 62278
Previous working experience with key Western Canada clients such as TransLink, BC MoTI, TI Corp, City of Calgary, City of Edmonton
Expertise in both Safety and Physical Security Cybersecurity
INCOSE certified
Project Management such as PMP or PRINCE2
Additional Information
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $105,000.00 - $165,000.00.
