Full Time Athletic Trainer For Burlington High School Position: 1 FT Athletic Trainer/ Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach- Unit A- Separate Pay Scale Job Description: The Athletic Trainer will be responsible to provide preventative measures, acute care, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries to interscholastic athletes at Burlington high School. The Athletic Trainer will be responsible for coverage of athletic contests, practices, and training room facility. The Athletic Trainer will be responsible for all scheduling of assistant trainers to ensure proper coverage of all varsity athletic events. The Athletic Trainer will be responsible for maintaining the standards for the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA). Duties include, but are not limited to: Providing supervision, direction, and education of student athletic trainers in classroom setting; Application of principles, methods and procedures of evaluation and treatment of athletic injuries, pre-conditioning and reconditioning of the athlete through the use of appropriate preventative and support devices, temporary splinting and bracing, physical modalities of heat, cold, massage, water, electric stimulation, sound, exercise and exercise equipment under the direction of a physician. This also includes counseling and instruction to coaches, athletes, parents, medical personnel and communities in the area of care and prevention of athletic injuries; Assist in coordinating and providing medical coverage for all home and away contests when needed, as well as events as assigned by the Director of Athletics; Supervise and ensure the physical maintenance of the training room facility area; Provide and maintain a descriptive inventory of all sports medicine materials, equipment and supplies; Assist in maintaining computerization of medical records, treatments, educational programs and supply inventory; Assist in the development of in-service educational programs for athletes, coaches and departmental staff; Maintain a online database of injuries and treatments, parent contact, and school personal acknowledgements Will assist the athletic office in maintaining family id and end of year work. Coordinate Strength and Conditioning programs for both in and out of season for all BHS Students (including summer workouts) Must maintain Continuing education credits to stay current in practice Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or Principal Job Requires Weekends and Holidays as scheduled and a non traditional schedule Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Sports Medicine, Physical Therapy or related fields, and three to five years' experience as a certified athletic trainer is required. Possession of and/or eligible for the Massachusetts licensure as an Athletic Trainer through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Board of Allied Health Professions required. National Athletic Trainers' Association (N.A.T.A.) certification and maintenance of certification by N.A.T.A. is required. Ability to communicate effectively; Ability to execute a number of diverse projects simultaneously; Ability to take initiative and make progress amidst competing priorities; Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community; Strong interpersonal skills; Strong commitment to customer service. Contracted Year: Monday before Football preseason through Last day of school for teachers Hours: Non-Traditional hours and Days As required by the Principal or Athletic Director Hours will be Mon-Friday-12PM Start time - Last Practice of the day/ or game has concluded Saturday- when needed/ assigned for games or practices Sunday- when needed/ assigned for games or practices Holidays- when needed/ assigned for games or practices Benefits: 3 personal days 15 sick days Professional Development- as approved Compensation: In accordance with the Burlington Educators' Association Unit A Contract Member side letter - Starting 50K-70K and will be commensurate with negotiated salary increases of the BEA Salary Schedule Step 1- $50,000 Step 2- $56,666 Step 3- $63,332 Step 4- $70,000 Benefit Package- Same as teachers Burlington's student body represents a broad range of cultures and backgrounds.
