Position Overview:

Provides administrative and clinical leadership for all aspects of the Perioperative Services. Establishes and implements goals, standards and practices that guide and support patient care initiatives while ensuring the delivery of high-value quality care and exceptional care experiences. Develops and fosters a solid partnership with physicians, medical staff and Sutter Health leaders, care teams and other employees to facilitate and collaborate on initiatives, to resolve operational challenges and/or to improve processes. Works with senior leadership to develop and establish short- and long-term strategic plans that complement system, operating unit or affiliate goals and initiatives, including business, operations, and/or organizational priorities. Sets priorities and allocates resources to align with business objectives and annual plan. Develops and establishes the direction of policies and procedures, and sets a structure for providing safe, consistent and effective patient care. Establishes overall operating and capital budget with input from management team, ensuring financial targets are achieved and variances are addressed timely.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

OPERATIONS.

• Provides administrative and clinical leadership for all aspects of the Perioperative Services.

• Establishes and implements goals, standards, and practices that guide and support patient care initiatives while ensuring the delivery of high-value quality care and exceptional care experiences

• Develops and fosters solid partnerships with physicians, medical staff, Sutter Health leaders, care teams, and other employees to facilitate and collaborate on initiatives, resolve operational challenges, and/or improve processes.

• Develops and establishes the direction of policies and procedures and sets a structure for providing safe, consistent, and effective patient care.

• Ensures protocols are in place to comply with an affiliate, operating unit, and/or system standards, policies and procedures, the Joint Commission (TJC) standards, and applicable laws and regulations.

STRATEGY/PLANNING.

• Works with senior leadership to develop and establish short- and long-term strategic plans that complement system, operating unit or affiliate goals, including business, operations, and/or organizational priorities.

• Communicates strategic plans to department managers to ensure alignment of goals.

• Set priorities and allocate resources to align with business objectives and annual plan.

• Led departmental goal-setting process and provided a roadmap for accomplishing goals. Monitors progress, developing action plans to address issues and challenges.

• Communicates affiliate, operating unit, and system goals to staff, helping staff understand the impact on patients, operations, and resources.

• Develop/approve the plan of action to address current and future resource needs to meet service and/or operational demands and objectives.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT.

• Establishes overall operating and capital budget with input from the management team, ensuring financial targets are achieved and variances are addressed timely.

• Approves department operating budgets and capital requests.

• Works with department managers to ensure the achievement of financial targets via effective utilization of personnel, resources, and supplies.

PEOPLE.

• Provides and fosters an inclusive work environment that encourages staff engagement and collaboration and establishes a culture of teamwork.

• Manages assigned staff, makes hiring and termination decisions, and reviews and approves timekeeping records.

• Establishes expectations with all direct reports and holds individuals and work teams accountable.

EDUCATION:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:

BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider

RN-Registered Nurse of California

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

12 years of recent relevant experience.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

Demonstrates clinical proficiency and knowledge to plan and coordinate patient care consistent with applicable standards and regulations.

Working knowledge and thorough understanding of state/federal/local and/or accreditation standards and requirements as they relate to operations and organization, with the ability to interpret and implement applicable standards and requirements.

Knowledge of emerging trends and regulatory changes and how they impact operations. Solid understanding of operations and workflows and how the department’s process/workflow impacts other department operations.

Understands business and operational requirements, demonstrating the ability to design and establish goals to meet long and short-term objectives.

Demonstrates credible leadership presence, the ability to respond to questions with logic, clarity, calmness, and authority, and the ability to motivate and engage others.

Ability to build and establish effective working partnerships with employees, peers, and leaders to achieve business objectives.

Collaboration skills to facilitate open sharing of information and cooperation with various stakeholders.

Ability to handle difficult circumstances and make sound business decisions with little direction. Working knowledge of wage and hour laws.

Demonstrates commitment to providing exceptional customer service and responding to customer needs/requests promptly and courteously.

Verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey concepts and communicate information or issues in a manner that is readily understood by management and employees.

Interpersonal skills with the ability to deliver presentations to a variety of audiences.

Understanding of the budgetary process and the healthcare financial environment.

Demonstrates effectiveness in achieving goals through individuals without having direct control of those resources.

Delegates effectively and can manage and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with changing business priorities.

Pay Range is $105.00 to $168.00 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
