The Walt Disney Studios is at the leading edge of entertainment and technology, working with the best entertainment brands such as Disney, Lucasfilm, Marvel, Pixar and 20th Century Studios.

The Studio Technology Legal Group is looking for a paralegal specialist who has significant experience working on technology legal matters to assist with supporting the Studio Technology team. Given that much of the work will relate to technology products and services in the entertainment industry, familiarity with technology matters within the entertainment industry is preferred.

This paralegal specialist will work under the supervision of an attorney on drafting and negotiating agreements, advising business partners on legal issues and company policies and managing projects.

This position requires exceptional organizational skills; ability to work independently with sound judgment; a proactive mindset; acute attention to details and deadlines; and constant, effective communication with both internal business partners and third parties.

What You Will Do

The main responsibilities of this paralegal specialist will be:

  • Drafting and negotiating agreements and other legal documentation related to technology, including but not limited to, software licenses, professional services agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and software/system evaluation agreements.

  • Preparing detailed summaries of agreement terms.

  • Coordinating with various business and legal groups on complex issues.

  • Tracking the status of projects and agreements.

  • Proofreading and editing documents.

  • Helping with special projects, as assigned.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • At least seven (7) years of paralegal experience, preferably in the technology/digital field at a reputable law firm or in-house legal department. Previous in-house experience is preferred.

  • The ability to handle a high volume of work with minimal supervision.

  • The ability to understand, track, and meet tight and firm deadlines and follow up, as appropriate.

  • The ability to multitask in a challenging, fast-paced and results-oriented environment.

  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to identify and analyze complex issues and devise solutions and strategies.

  • Strong understanding of contracts with the ability to draft contract language and integrate business issues into contracts.

  • Must be detail-oriented, with accurate and thorough grammatical, writing, and proofreading skills.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize workload efficiently and effectively.

  • The ability to take direction and offer relevant solutions, as needed.

  • Excellent written, verbal and listening skills.

  • An ability to independently manage one’s workload but to ask for assistance when needed.

  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and other office-related software.

Education

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and/or qualifications to be a paralegal by certification or education and work experience as set forth by the American Bar Association and any applicable state codes.

The hiring range for this position in California is $103,500.00 to $138,800.00 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
