Overview:

This Engineer would be responsible for engineering, implementing, troubleshooting, and maintaining the various platforms that make up M&T Bank’s network security infrastructure with a focus on supporting our RSA NetWitness infrastructure. Additional expertise is desired in the specific technologies that are used in the environment to maintain network security including the Cisco Secure Network Analytics platform (Stealthwatch). This would include maintaining documentation to reflect the current operating environments, as well as creating operational documentation to reflect changing processes and best practices.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and configure NetWitness infrastructure to monitor and analyze network traffic for security incidents.

• Deploy and maintain NetWitness appliances such as network decoders, concentrators, and brokers.

• Develop and maintain custom parsers, rules, and dashboards to support security monitoring and investigations.

• Perform regular health checks, tuning, and optimization of NetWitness infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and scalability.

• Investigate and resolve issues related to NetWitness deployment and configuration, and it’s integration with other security tools.

• Collaborate with security analysts and incident responders to investigate and respond to security incidents.

• Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to network security monitoring.

Education and Experience Required:

Combined minimum of 6 years’ higher education and/or work experience in systems design, management and/or architecture

Education and Experience Preferred:

• Knowledge of Network Security Principles

• Understanding of end user security and authentication

• Knowledge of the Zero Trust Model

• Understanding of Network Protocols and Designs

• Understanding of packet capture, including logging, and analysis

• Technical writing and documentation skills

• Ability to analyze data and draw conclusions from analysis.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Knowledge of NetWitness Platform architecture, core components and functions

• Technical NetWitness knowledge ideally including features, roadmap, deployment, configuration, tuning, customization, and administration.

• Experience with administering, maintaining and upgrading the RSA NetWitness platform.

• Experience in automating recurring operational procedures using Python or any scripting tool.

• Experience in Linux and Shell scripts.

• Experience with configuring security tools.

• Experience working with packet capture and logging files.

• Ability to provide knowledge transfer, meaningful metrics and informal training to clients and co-workers.

• Experience with network switching technologies.

• Ability to demonstrate the use of organized and detail-oriented methodologies for complicated engineering efforts such as system upgrades and implementations.

• Experience with administering and maintaining Cisco Secure Network Analytics platform (Stealthwatch).

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $93,581.10 - $155,968.51 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
