Description

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:This position will coordinate, implement and be responsible for all FeedMore youth and nutrition outreach programs, including, but not limited to the Kids in the Kitchen Workshop. Responsibilities include coordinating and administering programs, presenting cooking and nutrition classes for various programs, conducting site visits, and performing general administrative duties.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Instruction of the Kids in the Kitchen Workshop using MyPlate guidelines for a minimum of six, 5-week classes per quarter;

  • Coordinates and advocates all FeedMore WNY nutrition outreach programs to schools and agencies, including Kids in the Kitchen and program;

  • Presents wellness programs to students, partners and agencies, educating population about the importance of a healthy lifestyle through various means through: cooking/nutrition classes, health fairs, and agency visits;

  • Updates program literature as needed and utilizes culturally competent resources to promote inclusivity;

  • Maintains relationships with programs, agencies, and participants;

  • Conducts site visits and inspections as needed;

  • May perform administrative support for department;

  • Maintains supply and storage space and ensures a clean and sanitary condition;

  • Maintains a safe and inclusive learning environment;

  • Conducts pre- and post-assessments for each site;

  • Packages and distributes food for Kids in the Kitchen student participants to take home;

  • Drives to each site with workshop supplies and equipment;

  • Supports the FeedMore WNY’s organization mission to fight hunger among the less fortunate Assist with any and all mission work as needed and requested with some or no prior notice including, but not limited to: serving as a truck spotter, helping with FARM Market/Community Garden/Freight Farms/on and off site food distributions, preparation of meals and serving home-delivered meals; and

  • Other duties as so assigned or needed.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree or enrolled in Health and Human Services, Nutrition or related field;

  • Excellent interpersonal, public relations and customer service skills; emphasis on outreach and customer/client experience;

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills;

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral;

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word and Excel);

  • Demonstrated ability in teaching and public speaking;

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required;

  • Current & valid NYS driver’s license and access to an automobile; and

  • Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 lbs.

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:

  • Two years community health/nutrition experience working with low-income populations, including intern or volunteer experience;

  • Current ServSafe or other food safety certification;

  • Registered Dietician or Dietetic Technician, Registered;

  • Previous volunteer experience at FeedMore;

  • Background/demonstrated experience in childhood development or nutrition;

  • Energetic, enthusiastic, and creative;

  • Ability to learn new computer software programs;

  • Able to take initiative and work independently;

  • Ability to adapt and grow in an expanding program; and

  • Bilingual with fluency in English and one other language.

Salary Description

$16.00-$18.00/hr.
