POSITION: K-4 Instructional Coach
REPORTS TO: K-4 Building Principal
WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Exempt/10 month plus 10 days
*Salary is based on a Teacher Pay Scale- Bachelors, Masters, Bachelors + Certification, Masters + Certification, plus years of experience.

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the building principal, this position is responsible for assisting in the use of curriculum and data and to enhance teaching, learning and to positively impact student achievement through an Expeditionary Learning lens using core practices. Using data is paramount in addressing equity in our organization. This role will work as part of a team of coaches to support teachers in best practices regarding student engagement, teaching & learning. Paramount student engagement comes with well-planned lessons, intentional teacher moves, using current curricula and best practices in positive & proactive behavior management in welcoming & affirming classroom environments.
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Mentoring Program
Implement Tapestry's well developed Mentoring program to support all new teachers
Providing Mentoring support for new teachers and informally with teaching partners
Collaborating with the admin team to plan for Teaching Partner 2.0 professional development
In the moment and sustained coaching & support for teachers regarding the implementation of best practices for new teachers
Plan & facilitate professional development for all staff including new teachers and teaching partners
K-4 Data & Technology Support Working with a Team of Coaches
Coordinates, plans, summarizes, manages, and works alongside the coaching team. Work with the ELA & Math Coaches to support them in their ongoing work with teachers and grade level teams
Collaborating with building-based and shared leadership teams to proactively examine data and use best practices to make impact inside and outside of the classroom
Proactive & responsive coaching cycles
Use protocols with teams for equity of voices and shared decision making around evidence
Plan professional development with the coaching team
Strategically plan with the coaching team
Determine which platforms and apps are to be used to enhance instruction
Collaborating with our coaching team, use data to determine & drive instructional priorities for the K-4 community
Use Google Suite, specifically Excel and Google docs
Leverage existing data reports from various sources to support work plan goals
Collaborating with K-4 Leadership & Coaching Teams
Examine ways to bring data to the forefront and in practical and efficient ways
Plan and deliver K-4 professional development
Collaborate with the leadership team to plan back-to-school professional development
Be visible throughout the building and in classrooms daily
Work directly with our IT coordinators when necessary
K-4 Assessment& RtI
Collaborate with the building principal and be the NYS Testing Coordinator in grades 3 & 4 - assisting coaches with NYS testing
Assist in administering & conducting make ups for NWEA in grades 1-4
Collaborate and attend weekly RtI meetings when necessary
Alongside existing coaches, provide teachers with support using assessment tools and progress monitoring
Curriculum & Instruction
Collaborate with existing coaches in developing formative assessments to measure specific priority standards or skills
Monitor benchmark assessments by student, teacher, grade level, standard, sub group, utilizing collaborative decision making to target students. Provide this information to the coaches & teachers for use in developing and implementing interventions or extensions
Use best practices in classrooms to maximize engagement with curricula supporting teachers in co-teaching, modeling, and debriefing
Emotional Intelligence
- Working as a coach, display & foster high emotional intelligence in the following areas: Self- Management, Self-Awareness, Relationship Management & Social Awareness
Additional Duties
Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, Tapestry Charter School mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior
Perform other related duties as required and assigned
Required Qualifications:
NYS Teacher Certification
3 years teaching experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Dynamic classroom teacher looking to take the next step in supporting students & teachers
Prior experience with coaching and leadership opportunities
