Honeywell Advanced R&D Engr/Scientist in Buffalo, New York

As an Advanced R&D Engineer/Scientist here at Honeywell, you will be responsible for supporting the LiFSI program and other Pilot Plant projects in Buffalo, NY. Position Responsibilities:

  • Familiarity in various types of unit operations including reactions, distillations, filtrations, and handling of highly hazardous materials. Experience with both batch and continuous processes a plus.

  • Working on the coordination of different functions of R&D/pilot plant, including the design and construction of pilot scale equipment, technical staff supervision, analytical requirements, collection and reporting of experimental results, piloting and demonstration, etc.

  • Supervision of pilot scale equipment operating on a 24-hour basis including indirect supervision of operators and maintenance hourly staff.

  • Assisting in the design of projects, creation of procedures, training of operators, supervision of operations and reporting results.

  • Expected to work with engineers in Manufacturing and Engineering in cost reduction initiatives and technology improvement for existing fluorocarbon manufacturing processes.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills with typical chemical process equipment (Pumps, agitators, instrumentation, utilities, etc.)

  • Strict adherence to established safety policies and procedures.

  • Familiarity with HS&E regulations and life critical safety tools such as Lock-out/Tag-out, Line Break, and Hot Work permits and procedures.

  • Must be able wear all types of PPE and respiratory equipment as appropriate.

Compensation & Benefits:

Non-Incentive

Salary Range $110,600-$133,000

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics

  • 4 years of experience in Chemical Processing or Operations Required.

WE VALUE

  • Experience in crystallization, specifically in battery electrolyte manufacturing.

  • Experience with instrumentation, data acquisition and control system software is a plus

  • Additional experience in fluorocarbon manufacturing will be considered as a plus.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.

  • Utilization of Six Sigma tools for process optimization.

  • Knowledge of 5S standardization systems a plus.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with peers, operating and maintenance staff.
