Business Unit Overview:

The growing and increasingly complex regulatory requirements that BlackRock must meet necessitate strong focus on the implementation of both significant new regulations and amendments to existing regulations that have a material impact on the firm’s regulatory obligations.

The Compliance team supports BlackRock in meeting its regulatory obligations and mitigating the related risks. The team provides guidance, oversight, training, and monitoring to ensure that BlackRock's business activities are conducted in accordance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

The Performance team is a specialized sub-team within the Lind of Business Compliance Advisory team that focuses on the management and implementation of complex regulatory and business changes as well as internal efficiencies. The team works closely with other teams across Legal and Compliance as well as the broader BlackRock business to implement programmes of work spanning a variety of business and regulatory risks and changes.

Role Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate to join the Performance team in BlackRock’s Budapest office. This role is within the Performance team, within the Line of Business (LOB) Compliance Department, forming part of Legal & Compliance (L&C) function across EMEA.

The Performance Team is responsible for the provision of a center of excellence for regulatory change management discipline and process improvement for managing regulatory risk, across LOB Compliance and the wider EMEA Compliance department. As a member of the Performance Team the successful candidate will report directly to the Head of the Performance Team and will be required to support the delivery of the Performance Team strategy for the year and the EMEA Head of Compliance with the discharge of their obligations.

Key responsibilities/elements of the role will include:

  • Assisting in the embedment of a strategic regulatory change framework for improved delivery and oversight of regulatory obligations across L&C;

  • Supporting the delivery of internally and externally driven change and regulatory initiatives, whilst applying strong project/change management disciplines to ensure consistently high standards of implementation and adoption of best practices;

  • In partnership with Business partners and L&C colleagues, identifying the scope and impact of regulatory changes on Business processes and the steps required to implement them;

  • Assisting in advising Business partners on the design and embedment of required control frameworks to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance;

  • In partnership with L&C colleagues, support the generation and maintenance of documented interpretive guidance and Compliance policies;

  • Working with L&C colleagues in designing and executing risk-based post implementation verification tests of the outputs from Business processes, to ensure consistency with regulatory requirements and expectations.

Knowledge/experience :

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in Compliance, Legal, Audit, Change Management and/or Technology disciplines, preferably obtained within either the asset management or investment banking sectors;

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the current UK (and preferably EU) regulatory landscape;

  • Experience in supporting the design, management, and delivery of strategic, complex regulatory change programmes;

  • Strong organizational and planning skills;

  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team to identify risks and drive regulatory change;

  • Strong communication skills with experience of managing different viewpoints to reach a consensus;

  • Ability to actively participate in both internal and external team discussions and facilitate and steer dialogue with the wider L&C and Business community;

  • Driven by a need for excellence, process improvement, and delivery with a high degree of rigor, a constructively questioning approach, and always to an audit-ready standard.

Qualifications

  • University degree or professional qualifications in relevant fields such as Compliance, Law, Finance, Accountancy, Programme Management;

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are critical, as are a high standard of accuracy and excellent attention to detail;

  • Ability to work in and enjoy a fast-paced and challenging working environment;

  • High degree of control focus;

  • Student of technology that stays abreast of new and emerging tools that have the potential to positively transform Compliance processes;

  • An outperformer who strives to achieve and exceed set targets and objectives

Our hybrid work model
