Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (https://www.oracle.com/cloud/) (OCI) is a deep and broad platform of public cloud services that enables customers to build and run a wide range of applications in a scalable, secure, highly available, and high-performance environment.

OCI Goldengate (https://blogs.oracle.com/dataintegration/oracle-cloud-infrastructure-data-mesh-platform-announcing-new-oracle-cloud-infrastructure-goldengate) is an elastic, pay-per-use cloud service for general purpose database replication, operational integration, real-time data ingestion to cloud, and supporting time-series analytics while data is in flight.

The DNA of the ideal candidate:

We require people with:

  • 5+ years of relevant IT experience

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, or equivalent

  • Strong Java backend development and/or strong DevOps/cloud experience

  • Familiar with the design and implementation REST APIs

  • Solid Linux knowledge, basic shell scripting (bash)

  • Understanding of microservice architecture and experience in Docker

  • Understanding of distributed, highly-available system design

  • Experience with and understanding the importance of unit testing (eg Junit)

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with ability to identify and automate common routines

  • Experience with SDLC/Agile/Scrum processes

Knowledge of the following technical areas would also be beneficial although not essential as full training will be given in the relevant areas:

  • Experience with Dropwizard and/or Jetty and/or JEE

  • Experience with dependency injection frameworks (Spring or Spring Boot or Guice)

  • Experience with “infrastructure as code” concept and related tools, like Terraform

  • Understanding of CI/CD methodologies and tools like Jenkins, GIT, Maven, Gradle

  • Technical skills and knowledge that extends across Application/Server/Storage/Network technologies to troubleshoot and provide system level guidance & solutions

  • Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)

  • Oracle DB knowledge

  • Ability to understand and convey technical information in English, both in writing and orally

Career Level - IC4

Responsibilities

The role is dynamic and allows for experiences across a broad range of problems and technical areas.

You will be responsible for the design, implementation (coding in Java, bash and/or Terraform), and integration of various subsystems that make up the cloud service, as well as operating the service.

The role is well suited for someone with experience in backend programming in Java. Experience with highly available, distributed systems and/or with cloud services is a big plus. The work is challenging but never dull or monotonous.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will analyze and integrate external customer specifications. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture. Build new products and development tools. Troubleshoot, analyze and fix bugs. Build and execute unit tests and unit test plans, as well as automated integration and regression tests.
