What You'll Do

The Datacenter Services Senior Lead Operations Senior Engineer is responsible for managing the delivery of data center services as well as the maintenance of standards, guidelines, and design of data facilities with global / regional partners.

Accountable for the services and providers including Wipro and Equinix and other 3rd party providers.

Oversight and management of Control M batch services and other associated systems like Cisco spaces

The Data Center team designs some of the most sophisticated electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and HVAC systems in the world. Facilities Technicians at our enterprise monitor and support physical facilities conditions. Some of these duties will include heating and cooling of air and water, power supply, generators, UPS systems, electrical distribution and control and monitoring systems. You regularly help inspect, maintain and repair various data center systems such as piping and non-critical electrical or mechanical system components). You provide daily assistance to senior technicians as you read blueprints/schematics, conduct tours of systems and assess their working order.

As a master of of best-in-class practices, you develop creative approaches to reducing operational costs while improving overall data center efficiency. You ensure that environmental and safety standards are consistently met, identifying problems and making repairs quickly. In emergency situations or abnormal conditions, you manage data center performance issues and outages to minimize the recovery time from failures.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  1. Batch Processing Management:
  • Oversee the scheduling, execution, and monitoring of batch jobs.

  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all batch processes.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to batch job failures or performance.

  1. System Operations:
  • Manage day-to-day operations of computer systems, ensuring system availability and reliability.

  • Monitor system performance and implement optimizations as needed.

  • Perform regular system maintenance, including updates, patches, and backups.

  1. Incident Management:
  • Lead the response to system outages or failures, ensuring quick resolution to minimize downtime.

  • Develop and implement incident response procedures.

  • Document incidents and resolutions to improve future response times.

  1. Team Leadership:
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the computer operations team.

  • Train and mentor junior staff, ensuring knowledge transfer and skill development.

  • Coordinate with other departments and teams to ensure cohesive operations.

  1. System Control and Automation:
  • Develop and maintain automated scripts and tools to improve operational efficiency.

  • Implement and manage system controls to ensure data integrity and security.

  • Conduct regular reviews and audits of system controls and processes.

  1. Performance Reporting:
  • Generate and analyze reports on system performance and batch processing metrics.

  • Provide regular updates to management on operational status and performance.

  • Identify trends and areas for improvement based on performance data.

  1. Compliance and Standards:
  • Ensure all operations comply with internal policies and external regulations.

  • Maintain documentation of all processes, procedures, and configurations.

  • Participate in audits and ensure readiness for regulatory reviews.

  1. Project Management: Lead or participate in projects related to system upgrades, migrations, or other operational improvements. Coordinate with vendors and external partners as needed. Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Technical Expertise:

  • Proficiency in batch processing systems and scheduling tools (e.g., Control-M, JCL, Cron).

  • Strong knowledge of operating systems (e.g., Windows, UNIX/Linux).

  • Experience with scripting and automation (e.g., Shell, Python, PowerShell).

  • Problem-Solving Skills:

  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting abilities.

  • Ability to quickly diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.

  • Leadership and Communication:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Several years of experience in computer operations and batch processing, with at least some in a leadership role.
