Overview

Responsibilities
Creates and maintains policies, procedures and protocols for the Trauma Services Department to include the quality improvement plan to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, Joint Commission and State and Federal requirements.
Educates staff and community on injury prevention to promote the health and safety of our community and staff.
Maintains current knowledge of trauma care via literature review, trauma conferences and trauma research and develops the Trauma Services Department in accordance with ACS, TDSHS, and Joint Commission guidelines to ensure compliance for Level IV Trauma Designation.
Coordinates and facilitates the review of the emergency services records to identify trauma admissions, deaths and transfers for entry into the trauma registry.
Participates in the development of summaries and reports from the trauma registry data as requested by administration and maintains accurate records and reports to ensure compliance with TDSHS and Joint Commission.
Performs other duties as assigned in a prompt, courteous and professional manner to promote in the organization's Mission, Vision and Values.
Performs Clinical call duties to ensure 24 hour coverage for hospital to provide guidance and ensure appropriate staffing.
Nurse Educator: Responsible for development and implementation of departmental orientation programs for new and transferring Nursing Service team members. Serves as a mentor for new Nursing Service team members to improve staff to a desired level of performance.
Exhibits stewardship when dealing with available funding for education and equipment needs to maximize performance and productivity with minimum cost.
Provides for Nursing staff in-service, continuing education and for coordination of classes for certifications (TNCC, PALS, CPR AND ACLS) for all applicable Nursing Service team members and to continually measure, assess and improve these education activities to maintain a competent and engaged workforce.
Stroke Coordinator: Coordinates and oversees stroke program in conjunction with Nurse Leadership and Stroke Medical Director. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to development of policies, data collection, and staff and community education. Reports data to RAC as required. Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.
Maintains and updates required plans annually to meet all regulatory agency standards to include updating emergency preparedness plans annually to ensure the plans are not outdated and still meet safety needs for all.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
Education: Associates Degree, Nursing
Experience: Three years emergency room nursing experience
Required Licensure and Certifications
Registered Nurse (RN); American Heart Association BLS
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training
Ability to relate to people and handle complex situations
Pay Range
$35.12 - $50.92 /hour
