The Policy in Action team provides programme and network support, technical assistance, and mutual (peer-based) learning and training services to European Union (EU) institutions.

We are seeking a creative and motivated Communication Specialist to join our communications team and help effectively convey messages in a range of policy areas, including migration, employment, labour market, social inclusion and protection, education and training.

About the role:

You will help shape a wide range of communications services including newsletters, website content, social media, and copy-editing, strategies, stakeholder engagement plans, collaborative platforms, videos and other communications tools. This is a very hands-on role where communications knowledge is applied in a very practical way to help deliver large, multi-annual programmes, involving close engagement with EU clients and a wide variety of stakeholders.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Contribute to and help guide communication strategies to support project outreach

• Leading, advising on or supporting the development of web content as well as monitor and implement technical updates

• Developing written deliverables (e.g. newsletters, thematic content, success stories), with an emphasis on high quality editorial work, visual presentation and good design skills

• Managing social media accounts, developing engaging content

• Evaluating communication channel performance, tracking, and reporting key metrics

• Creating and sourcing relevant multimedia (photos, videos) to support outreach activities.

• Contributing to client and stakeholder meetings

• Contribute to reports and proposal-writing by drafting content for communications services in the EU and UK markets

What we are looking for:

• Master’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and 5+ years’ professional experience in communications

• Strong copywriting and copy-editing skills and an excellent eye for detail

• Experience of managing Social Media or other communication campaigns, community management (responding to direct messages, posts)

• Experience with content management systems (CMS), for example Drupal. Knowledge and understanding of HTML, CSS or Javascript is a plus

• Strong organisational and coordination skills, including time management, multi-tasking, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including interacting with multi-national and multi-disciplinary stakeholders

• Excellent verbal, written, analytical and presentation skills in English (C1 or equivalent) - additional European languages an advantage

• A C2 (or equivalent) level of English is required
