CITY OF BROWNWOOD

Job Assignment: WAREHOUSE/BUYER I Job Number: 19-0300 Department: Purchasing Pay: $2,993 per month / $17.27 per hour $3,083 per month / $17.79 per hour after 6-month probation Immediate Supervisor: Purchasing Manager

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The warehouse person is responsible for the operation of the warehouse and yard storage areas which consists of performing manual and clerical duties in buyer, receiving, recording, and storing stock items. Must be willing to adopt and exhibit the City of Brownwood I SERVE Core Values.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED: 1) Maintain present stock on hand and check incoming shipments for accuracy of quality and quantity ordered, assigning all items with computer number; 2) Operate fork lift when required to unload supplies; 3) Secure written and telephone quotations from vendors, perform value and cost analysis and select products and vendors consistent with existing policies and procedures; 4) Upon receipt of invoice, check for accuracy of price quote and quantity; stock material in proper location of warehouse; 5) Track orders, expedite deliveries and recommend cancelation of orders for non-performance; 6) May have to make independent decisions and handle the majority of routine orders without detailed review; 7) Make arithmetic calculations and perform work efficiently and accurately; 8) Communicate effectively with public in person, by telephone and in writing; maintain effective business relationships with vendors, other city employees and general public; 9) Maintain warehouse computer database as required to reflect correct departmental charge outs, warehouse stocked items, purchase orders and quotes; maintain the computer asset database by departments; 10) Package and ship various freight from departments of the City; 11) Issue supplies and tools to workers by warehouse requisition; 12) Purchase supplies from various business establishments on as needed basis; 13) Prepare the Departmental Usage report, Physical Inventory Cost report, Inventory Status Report, Month End and Annual Reports 14) Responsible for overseeing inventory, and a complete inventory at close of fiscal year; 15) Clean and maintain storerooms in an orderly condition; 16) Responsible for purchasing and related duties in Managers or Buyer/Clerk Is absence; 17) Other duties as assigned by Purchasing Manager.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Ability to sit, stand and drive a vehicle to and from various worksites. Employee will be exposed to seasonal temperatures while performing maintenance duties and be exposed to mechanical and chemical hazards. Ability to lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds frequently and 50-100 pounds occasionally. Ability to bend, stoop, walk, push brooms, and sweep. Ability to walk over sloped and uneven terrain. Work involves getting dirty and wet. Employee will be exposed to dirt, dust, noises, fumes, and odors.

CONTACT WITH OTHERS: Frequent contact with other city employees and frequent contact with the public in purchasing supplies and daily contact with vendors.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or G.E.D. Two years experience in related work, such as in purchasing of various types of supplies, materials and equipment used by municipalities.
