Job Assignment: SEASONAL FACILITIES OPERATIONS ASSISTANT Job Number: 17-0205 Department: 17-Community Facilities Pay: $15.71 per hour Immediate Supervisor: Community Event Facilities General Manager
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This is a seasonal position and is scheduled to work less than 1000 hours per fiscal year. A non-supervisory position that is responsible for event setup/tear down, assisting with answering phones, and handling walk-in traffic. Additionally, routine cleaning and custodial work in the Community Facilities Department and surrounding parking area. Must be willing to adopt and exhibit the City of Brownwood I SERVE Core Values. EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC WORK PERFORMED:
- Sets up equipment, furnishings or fixtures for banquets, dances, concerts, and all other activities; dismantles and cleans up after events.
- Assists with incoming calls and walk-ins.
- Sweeps, mops, strips, waxes and buffs floors and vacuums carpets.
- Collects trash and disposes of waste.
- Cleans restrooms and replenishes toilet supplies.
- Washes windows.
- Operates mechanical floor machine, buffers and other custodial equipment.
- Assist in general maintenance of building, such as painting, etc.
- Dust office furniture, equipment and other fixtures.
- Maintain outside walks, driveways, parking lots and grounds.
- Maintains and organizes all event equipment.
- Utilizes Community Facilities Software to communicate event details and operations.
- Assist with answering phone calls and handling walk-in traffic.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
- Ability to sit, stand and drive a vehicle to and from various locations.
- Employee will be exposed to seasonal temperatures while performing maintenance duties and be exposed to mechanical and chemical hazards.
- Ability to lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds frequently and 50-100 pounds often.
- Ability to bend, stoop, walk, push brooms and sweep.
- Ability to walk over sloped and uneven terrain.
- Work involves getting dirty.
- Employee will be exposed to dirt, dust, noises, fumes and odors.
- Ability to communicate in writing and verbally with the public.
- Ability to understand verbal and written communication.
- Physical demand for the job are heavy.
- Exposure to dangerous machinery, electrical lines and various heights.
- Ability to work at heights of 50 feet to 60 feet.
- Required to work overtime, night shifts, weekend on-call, and holidays.
CONTACTS WITH OTHERS:
- Frequent contact with co-workers limited to normal work relationships.
- Contact with the public in performance in duties.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Must have enough education to read and write effectively for this position.
- Must be able to comprehend and speak the English language.
- A high school diploma or G.E.D. is a plus, but is not required.
- Custodian experience preferred.
- Must be able to interpret cleanser labels and such.
REQUIRED LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:
- Valid Texas Drivers License.
- Certified CPR.
