POSITION SUMMARY: The Payroll and Tax Coordinator is responsible for the facilitation and direction of the company s payroll function that services our U.S. operations while ensuring compliance with government regulations and company policy. Additional responsibilities include analysis and testing of payroll system modifications and enhancements. Performs all activities necessary to process 1 or more payrolls, including maintaining related records, filing tax reports and voluntary deduction reports, processing involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments, preparing accounting transactions and documents, documenting and updating procedures, and preparing special reports for management.

This position is responsible for several aspects of accounting for multi-state payroll and benefits including but not limited to benefits accounting, participation in month-end and year-end close, 401K liability and contribution forecasting, preparation of analytical payroll and benefits data for management as well as payroll accounting, maintenance of payroll records, and review of multi-state payroll. Also ensures all payroll withholding tax including researching, analyzing, and solving complex problems resulting from payroll processing. This position ensures all employee taxes are properly withheld, deposited and reported on a timely basis and ensure overall payroll tax compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Payroll Processing and Compliance * Manage in-house payroll processing function to ensure the delivery of compliant, accurate and timely payrolls. * Ensuring payroll and benefit administration compliance

  • Reconciles all monthly invoices for benefit plans.
  • Manage payroll vendor(s) to resolve issues and identify gaps and implement process improvements.
  • Critically review and analyze current payroll, benefits and tax procedures in order to recommend and implement changes leading to best-practice operations
  • Maintains payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
  • Prepares recurring, non-recurring and adjusting journal entries as assigned, primarily those relating to payroll (PTO, Benefits, Accruals, and Adjustments), including month end reconciliation of the various payroll accruals
  • Preparing and remitting daily, monthly, quarterly and annual tax payments for assigned Federal, State and Local payroll tax returns
  • Assisting to Resolving issuesquestions from clients andor management relating to Federal, State and Local payroll tax returns prepared
  • Reconciliation, and subsequent investigation and resolution, of payroll tax liability accounts including, but not limited to, Federal, FUTA, SUTA and State and Local taxes
  • Oversees the benefit file feeds to ensure accurate benefit enrollment and contributions.
  • Partner with HR to ensure data and accounting accuracy of employee benefits
  • Responsible for required payroll & benefits filings to include 401K, 1095 s, etc.
  • Research and recommend payroll and benefits compliance and tax issues to include, but not limited to, ERISA, COBRA, 5500s and Health Care Reform
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service

  • Partner with Human Resources and other departments to ensure data integrity and operational efficiencies Sales/Use Tax
  • Reviewing and submitting required sales/use tax filings

  • Manage property tax and other non-income- ased taxes, filings, and audits.

  • Lead sales and use tax audits, and other transaction tax related compliance of affiliated entities.
  • Review monthly tax accruals and effectively analyze general ledger account activities.
  • Research sales and use tax statutes, regulations, and court rulings.
  • Work with various Exxel Outdoors teams, leading process efficiency projects and documentation.
  • Actively engage internal and external partners to answer tax queries and provide timely and accurate advice on transaction tax matters.
