The Military Space Strategic Business Unit delivers innovative space systems that drive mission success and provide resilient and persistent mission-level solutions to deter threats and counter emerging capabilities for the Department of Defense.

What You ll Do:

  • Support the Military Space business unit within BAE Systems Inc., Space & Mission Systems sector as a capture manger for a variety of pursuits. This includes identifying, pursuing, developing, and winning business opportunities with various government organizations (Defense and Intelligence).

  • Lead a team of engineers and related staff focused to capture Military space business opportunities supporting national defense and space security missions and transition them into successful programs.

  • Work with other Military Space business unit team members, customers, and end users to find and develop solutions to today's emerging mission needs.

  • Develop and communicate messages, marketing, competition assessments, and customer insights to pursuit teams and leadership based on our core values of integrity, honesty, transparency, and collaboration.

  • Lead capture and proposal teams to deliver winning proposals, requests for information, and white papers.

  • Coordinate and establish contacts with key US Government and industry customers and stakeholders.

  • Provide leadership, knowledge, business opportunities, strategies, competitive intelligence, and market and legislative forecasts commensurate with company financial and strategic plans relative to the purpose noted above.

  • Propose independent research and development, coordinate technology developments with other business areas, and establish industry partnerships necessary to effectively compete for emerging mission needs.

  • Manage support personnel to develop cost, schedule, and technical estimates in response to customer requests for information and requests for proposals and directly manage capture personnel assigned to these activities.

  • Oversee study efforts having the potential to evolve into new business capture opportunities.

  • Manage budgets for initiatives, projects, and required staffing within assigned pursuits.

  • Engage in regular communication with other capture managers, business area leads, and leadership on topics that include customer insights and priorities, internal investments, opportunity forecasts, and their impacts on overall Military Space business.

  • Lead the development and communication of capture strategy, including pursuit analysis, bidding strategies, technical presentations, win themes, key messages, and pricing. Coordinate all proposal activities, prepare various inputs, and oversee final proposal preparation and delivery.

  • Coordinate with business development personnel, manage the development of solutions in response to stated customer needs, develop, and execute capture plans and strategies, lead pursuit and proposal activities, and manage customer and teammate relationships.

  • Create diverse and inclusive teams for capture activities; inspire teams to win business.

  • Ensure all business is conducted with the highest ethical standards.

  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • BS/BA in related field plus 10 years or more related experience.

  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.

  • A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is required.

  • Demonstrated experience leading new business capture and proposal activities.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver proposals including strong technical writing skills.

  • Detailed understanding of the individual customers, their priorities, and potential industry competitors.

  • Strong background in classified aerospace sensing systems with emphasis on experience across the functionality of full mission lifecycle Collection Segment (space, ground, user) and TCPED capabilities.

  • Solid project management skills and demonstrated ability to grow new business opportunities, including a track record of successfully managing the transition of new technologies and developmental hardware.

  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills in relevant business environments. Influencing, communication and team skills will be critical to successful execution of the duties of the position.

  • Demonstrated strategy development and proposal skills, and demonstrated experience in leading design, capture, and proposal teams.

  • Superb communication skills with documented presentation experience to senior decision-making and technical audiences.

  • Superb presentation skills and experience presenting to senior decision making and technical audiences.

  • Demonstrable profile in and relationships across the DoD space community.

  • Ability to translate end user requirements into engineering requirements and to weigh relevant technical trades.

  • Demonstrated excellent leadership and interpersonal skills in relevant business environments.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Experience working in military space, intelligence community, or related industry.

  • Experience working and operating within DoD classified program environments.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $144000 - $199000

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
