The pay range is $111,200.00 - $200,200.00

As a Lead Engineer, you serve as the technical anchor for the engineering team that supports a product. You create, own and are responsible for the application architecture that best serves the product in its functional and non-functional needs. You identify and drive architectural changes to accelerate feature development or improve the quality of service (or both). You have deep and broad engineering skills and are capable of standing up an architecture in its whole on your own, but you choose to influence a wider team by acting as a “force multiplier”.

As a Lead Engineer, you’ll take the lead as you use your experience as a highly skilled and experienced team member to provide Firewall policy governance and join our Network Security team. This role is essential for managing, reviewing, and aligning firewall policies across various segments and technologies of our organization including retail stores, distribution centers, headquarters, and data centers. The successful candidate will ensure that firewall policies are compliant with industry standards such as PCI, SOX, GLBA, and our internal Information Security policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive firewall governance processes and procedures.

  • Conduct thorough reviews and audits of existing firewall rules to identify and rectify non-compliance issues.

  • Collaborate with Business Information Security Officers (BISOs) and application teams to ensure alignment with security requirements.

  • Provide expert consultancy to internal teams on network connections and application integrations.

  • Design and implement governance frameworks for cloud segmentation policies, CDN policies, store, distribution center, HQ and data center segmentation policies.

  • Enhance automation tools and processes for the review, approval and ongoing segmentation testing of firewall policies against standard security guidelines.

  • Engage in proactive risk assessment and mitigation strategies to safeguard all network segments including but not limited to analyzing the effectiveness of existing segmentation strategies, including support of penetration testing team’s semiannual segmentation testing.

  • Document all policy changes and maintain clear audit trails for compliance verification.

About You

  • 4-year degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related job experience.

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in network security, with a strong focus on firewall management and compliance.

  • In-depth knowledge of compliance frameworks including PCI, SOX, and GLBA.

  • Proven experience in developing and managing governance policies for large-scale networks.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or similar.

  • Experience with Google Cloud, CDN Fastly, Check Point, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, and Iptables firewall products.

  • Prior experience in a Fortune 50 retail environment.

  • Proficiency in automation tools and scripting languages like Python.

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
