Duties Description Are you an experienced teacher looking for a new opportunity or just starting your teaching career? Office of Mental Health, a NYS agency, has teaching opportunities throughout New York State. New York City Children's Center - Brooklyn Campus is recruiting a Teacher to provide educational instruction to individuals with mental illness. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.As a Teacher, you will teach elementary, secondary, or special subjects including• Preparing course and unit outlines, lesson plans, and individual education plans• Evaluating and documenting individuals’ performance and progress • Collaborating with treatment team to work toward treatment goals and objectives

Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they meet any of the following:Teacher 2 – Current New York State Education Department initial certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty.Teacher 3 – Current New York State Education Department permanent/professional certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty.Teacher 4 - Current New York State Education Department permanent/professional certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty and 2 years of post-certification (initial or permanent/professional) teaching experience in that same specialty. ORCandidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on a current Teacher eligible list.ORCandidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
