In this position...

At Ford Motor Company, we are taking our Area Managers to the next level. This member of the plant leadership team is responsible for leading change efforts within the plant in order to meet global manufacturing standards. They will support employees by removing barriers to their success, and developing their knowledge, skills, and abilities.

What you'll do...

  • Leverage MP&L functional knowledge, including new model launch planning, change control, bill of material, parts follow-up, shop floor scheduling, inventory planning, cycle checking, distribution, logistics, material handling, packaging, and industrial materials to support the plant manufacturing processes with production and non-production materials.

  • Drive Supply Chain Mgmt. scheduling, customers, and plant when there are production critical supply issues. Prioritize key issues and allocate resources

  • Review and evaluate future plans for expansion and/or modification of the plant’s MP&L equipment, resources, and or future facilities to determine the effect on MP&L operations

  • Approve proper headcount authorization (hourly, salaried, agency employees) and ensure the proper structure is in place to support the business needs

  • Coach and council employees as required

  • Review future manufacturing requirements and recommend to the plant management the most economical work patterns

  • Develop department policy deployment objectives, Master Schedule, and Implementation Roadmaps

  • Assure Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, Maintenance, Environment (SQDCPME) objectives and operating systems implementation

  • Assure that personal protection equipment, FIFO, PMHV, safety, ergonomics, housekeeping, etc. practices are planned and adhered to

  • Represent MP&L employees in local PDC and ensure a developmental plan for them, proper compensation planning, and performance reviews are completed

  • Develop action plans to improve Pulse, 360 Degree feedback, etc. from department employees

  • Interface with plant hourly, salaried personnel, plant management, staff operations, logistic carriers, and production suppliers

  • Demonstrate Servant Leadership and Gemba, engaging regularly with employees in the production environment to listen and problem-solve

  • Utilize lean manufacturing principles and processes to global manufacturing standards

  • Leverage performance data for strategic insights to predict early warning indicators, identify opportunities, make decisions, and deliver solutions

  • Achieve business results by Leading the development and delivery of KPIs, ensuring department objectives support the business objectives

  • Drive Continuous Improvement by eliminating internal roadblocks and providing the necessary resources to their teams to support problem resolution, resulting in cost/quality improvement

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts across functions/departments to drive innovation and deliver timely solutions

  • Lead transformation and change management efforts

  • Develop organizational capability through coaching and developing “Leaders as Teachers” at all organizational levels

  • Participate in talent strategies to develop high-performing, diverse talent and teams and ensure the highest levels of engagement and retention

You'll have...

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Preferred - Bachelor’s degree in Material Planning, Logistics, Supply Chain, Material Handling/Packaging Engineering, Business Administration or Industrial Operations

  • 3 or more years of experience in manufacturing plant scheduling, distribution, supply chain, inventory planning, bill of material, change control, new model launch, logistics, material handling line feed processes, non-production stores or material flow

  • Broad manufacturing/logistics experience

  • Demonstrated tenure leading plant hourly & salaried personnel as well as plant management

  • Proven ability to present in front of senior management

  • Ability to teach Ford Production System principles

  • Competent in the use of data for decision making

  • Excellent leadership skills with demonstrated ability to resolve diverse problems

  • Work well under pressure and to be able to work under crisis management when necessary

  • Validated ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment

  • Successful candidate must be able to demonstrate leadership in One FORD (leadership) behaviors combined with outstanding interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills

Even better, you may have...

  • Master’s degree in engineering or technical field

  • Experience with Ford's material management systems (Common Manufacturing Management System (CMMS), CPARs, SMF, shipping systems, and other support systems desired

  • Team Manager/superintendent experience

  • Demonstrated fluency with MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook)

  • Strong analytical skills and quick decision-making capability preferred
