Robert Half Supervising Attorney in Bronx, New York

Description We are on the hunt for a dedicated Attorney/Lawyer to join our team in the non-profit sector, located in BRONY, New York. In this role, you will be providing free legal assistance to those seeking immigration stability, facing eviction, and survivors of domestic violence and other crimes. You will be part of our Tenant Defense Program, which is instrumental in securing housing stability for low-income tenants and supporting New York City's groundbreaking Universal Access to Counsel initiative.

Responsibilities:

• Provide legal representation to clients seeking immigration stability and facing eviction

• Support survivors of domestic violence and other crimes by offering legal aid

• Play a key role in the Tenant Defense Program by developing and leading the program

• Provide training, supervision, and mentorship to a team of staff attorneys and a paralegal

• Carry a reduced independent caseload whilst managing the team

• Develop and implement creative legal strategies to achieve optimal client outcomes

• Use case management software and legal software for efficient case handling

• Use knowledge of fair housing law and civil litigation experience in legal representation

• Handle claim administration and complaint handling with professionalism

• Ensure all documentation is accurate and up to date. Requirements • Possess a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school

• Admission to the state bar and in good standing

• A minimum of 3 years of professional experience as an attorney or lawyer

• Experience with civil litigation and claim administration

• Proficiency in using legal software such as 3M, Case Management Software, LexisNexis, and other relevant management systems

• Proven experience in complaint handling and documentation

• Knowledge of Fair Housing Law is required

• Previous civil litigation experience is necessary

• Ability to prepare legal documents and conduct briefing sessions

• Strong research and report writing skills

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Ability to work with diverse groups of people

• Commitment to the principles of non-profit organizations.
