Position Summary:**The P2Project (The Pregnancy Prevention Project) at Children’s Aid aims to reduce and prevent the incidence of unintended adolescent pregnancy in its priority areas in NYC by providing young people with the holistic tools to meet their greatest potentials through evidence-based sexuality education, comprehensive reproductive health services, and peer health education. The main objectives of the program are:

  • Provide comprehensive, age appropriate, sexuality health education for adolescents (11 – 22).

  • Provide strategies for young people to make healthy decisions and set goals for the future.

  • Connect youth to reproductive health services.

  • Encourage youth/adult partnerships and effective communication.

  • Create and foster community and organizational partnerships to reduce the incidence of unintended adolescent pregnancy in our communities.

Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Program Manager will plan, develop, coordinate, and evaluate the OPA Pregnancy Prevention Program, and is responsible for the oversight of all program activities. The PM will supervise the activities of the Senior Health Educators and work with partner foster care agencies to schedule comprehensive sexual health education programming. The Program Manager will also supervise the activities of the Youth Development Specialist who will be working directly with foster care youth at their agencies, facilitating referrals to family planning centers, and organizing the peer education program. The Program Manager will facilitate trainings needed for staff and submit required internal and external reports to the Project Director.

Essential Duties:**

  • Supervise the over-all implementation and evaluation of the OPA Pregnancy Prevention program

  • Establish and maintain linkages and partner relationships with foster care agencies, health center sites, and community-based organizations

  • Conduct educational presentations for Foster Care agency program staff on the goals of the program and adolescent reproductive health topics

  • Schedule and oversee all evidence-based curricula implemented and expanded topics such as adolescent growth and development, birth control methods, STI’s, HIV/AIDS, etc.

  • Select and assist the implementation of all youth development activities for participants involved in evidence-based programming with the Teen Liaison Coordinator

  • Develop and implement a community advisory committee consisting of foster care agency staff, partner health center staff, community-based organizations, youth, and community members

  • Coordinate the process of developing, obtaining, evaluating and maintaining written and audio-visual health education materials, as directed.

  • Collects and maintains accurate client data, activity records, and other related statistical compilations

  • Must abide by privacy laws, including HIPAA, etc.

  • In-person collaboration is an essential function of the job

  • Perform other duties as assigned

* Minimum Qualifications:*

  • BA in Health Education, Public Health, or related field, and 4 - 5 years related field experience with adolescents and reproductive health education required

  • Experience in grant program planning and implementation

  • Strong interpersonal and excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Accurate record keeping skills and organizational abilities

  • Computer literacy

  • Must be able to travel to multiple sites throughout NYC

  • Experience working with adolescents and team settings

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
