Employment Coordinator

We are excited to invite a passionate and experienced Employment Coordinator to join our team! Homes for the Homeless (HFH) is searching for an experienced Employment Coordinator for our Families w/ Children facility in the Soundview area of the Bronx. As the Employment Coordinator, you will play a role in overseeing the graduates of Allie’s Place Culinary program and helping them overcome barriers to join or re-enter the workforce. ABOUT HOMES FOR THE HOMELESS, INC.

Homes for the Homeless operates shelters for families experiencing homelessness in NYC. Our family residences are more than just a place to sleep. Families can make the most of their stay through accessing an array of onsite programs. Many of these programs are also available to people living in the local community. Our goal is to have a positive impact so families can thrive long after they leave our shelters.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitate employment training workshops and presentations.

  • Create an environment that promotes job readiness for clients.

  • Develop and monitor employment service plans.

  • Conduct assessments of client's employability.

  • Assist clients in achieving employment goals by providing individual employment counseling.

  • Conduct outreach to potential employers and the community to promote program services.

  • Research and send job referrals to unemployed graduates.

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s in social sciences/Career and Work Counseling

  • Experience working with individuals and groups who have multiple barriers to employment.

  • Experience with return-to-work strategies, life skills, employment training, and counseling.

  • Superior oral and written communication skills

  • Must be proficient in MS Office Applications.
