Job Brief

Directly oversees the provision of services provided to patients by clinic physicians, clinicians, RNs, LPNs and DCCs to ensure that all health needs are addressed in an appropriate and efficient manner.

POSITION DUTIES :

  1. Supervises RNs and provides oversight and instructions to the nursing staff and direct care staff.
  • In collaboration with Clinical Nursing Supervisor, establishes systems for day-to-day medical/nursing operations.

    1. Monitors compliance with established policies and procedures and takes corrective action to maintain high standards of nursing care.
  • Monitors activities in all clinical areas to ensure that quality services are provided within the framework of Agency policies and procedures and all applicable government regulations.

    1. Completes monthly schedules for nurses.

      1. Ensures that the facility is well stocked with medical supplies and that all equipment is in working order. Maintains appropriate logs and control count sheets.

      2. Collaborates with the physician on the disposition of unscheduled/priority appointment requests.

      3. Conducts monthly nurses meetings and provides verbal and written guidance as needed. Oversees and identifies the need for and arranges and conducts conferences to facilitate resolution of complex issues.

    2. Provides in-service training for 24 hour nurses as required. Develops and updates patient’s profile with the Residential Coordinator or other service providers for use at clinic appointments and hospitals, to include presenting problems and current medication list. Assigns nursing staff to perform health care treatments/procedures and having taken into consideration the complexity of the procedure(s), the skill/experience of the staff and the health conditions/status of the person receiving services. Initially trains the staff in the task/activity and regularly observes/monitors to ensure all treatments/procedures are performed correctly.

    3. Oversees prior authorizations for medications, feedings and transportation.

    4. Supervises the preparation packages for the Surrogate Court and CAB. Attends the surrogate court proceedings with or without the day shift primary nurse.

    5. Attends all annual and semi-annual ISP meetings/conferences in the various day programs attended by the individuals we serve in the ICF 14.

    6. In the absence of the Clinical Nursing Supervisor, the Charge Nurse is responsible for overall ICF operations and supervision of al nursing staff.

    7. Maintains a safe, therapeutic ICF environment.

    8. Performs all other duties as assigned.

      C. REQUIREMENTS:

    9. NYS licenses Registered Nurse.

  • Minimum three years nursing experience with one year in supervision.

    1. C.P.R. certification.

    2. Extensive knowledge of pertinent health resources.

    3. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    4. Able to work flexible hours and/or days.

    5. Performs all job responsibilities in full compliance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Adheres to the agency’s corporate compliance program, including the code of business conduct, the NYS and federal false claims act, whistleblower protection and mandatory reporting. Completes corporate compliance training at least annually. Fully cooperates in all corporate compliance investigations and reviews.
