Job Description

Job Purpose:

The successful applicants will be given a full well rounded understanding of the Composites Manufacturing process, both on the shop floor, and departments which are indirectly related to production such as, Inspection, Engineering and Estimating.

This apprenticeship will include on block period of study with the University of Sheffield AMRC , before moving to on-the-job training at our site in Bromborough.

During this 3½ year apprenticeship, you will learn how to interpret drawings/specifications and plan work, ensuring you have the right tools, equipment and resources to complete the task. Fitters are required to check their work against quality standards and make adjustments as required based on their knowledge.

Future Prosects of this Apprenticeship:

  • Gain a recognised & respected industry qualification. This will be essential to career progression & can be used to access further eduction & development opportunities

  • Develop skills specific to the Composites and Aerospace industry, which can be practiced and applied straight away

  • Limitless opportunities – Composites are used and are developing in many different engineering industries. The skills learnt of this Engineering Fitter Apprenticeship can be transferred to any industry

Units will include:

  • Wiring and testing electrical equipmentand circuits

  • Maintaining mechanical devices and equipment

  • Electro, pneumatic and hydraulic systems and devices

  • Producing engineering project plans

  • Using computer software packages to assist with engineering activities

  • Hydraulics and pneumatics

  • Programmable logic controllers (PLCs)

  • Liaises with relevant departments as required.

Qualifications Required:

  • Four GCSE’s at grades C/4 or above; in Maths and English Language

Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme
